But for real, I would LOVE to see a remake of FF7 just like the rest of you, but something is telling me it won't happen anytime soon, unless at TGS08 the dream finally comes true...let's wait and see.

Yeah, see that the problem with FF13..they've not even started making it for ps3 yet..the footage we've seen was their new engine running on PC's. So they have to dumb that down for the 360. They've already said they're going to have to make great use of compression to fit it on a reasonable amount of 360 game discs.. And they're not going to utilize the ps3s more powerful hardware as it would take longer to make 2 versions of the game...so thanks to M$ doing their usual buy and bulldoze strategy we're going to get a game that looks slightly better then FF12 called FF13..

They have done too much additional content for FF7 movie Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus, and Crisi core I think it would be better to start Doing more additional content for other ones. either way i would still play FF7 if they made a remake.
The team that would be doing this remake is currently working on FFXIII. So this project won't even be started untill next year at the earliest. And then it will probably take 2-3 years before it is released, putting it in 2011/12. I think it will happen, but not for quite some time.
I wouldn't mind it for the psp. Alls the games need is a graphics overhall, and the psp shoudl be able to handle that, and it would shorten the development time.
In fact the original has already been ported to the PC. Plus most of the NES and SNES Final Fantasies were ported to the PS1.... a few were later brought to the WonderSwan as well... and of course the PSP saw graphically enhanced ports of the GBA versions of FF1 and 2.
My point is that it really doesn't matter where the game started off. It's still fair game for all.
i think we can all agree and say that it will be a game based on ff7. There is nothing else closer than that. Every question asking for ff7 remake will just be speculation. No point in continuing to talk about this. Even though i played ff7 when i was little, I don't exactly remember the gameplay... just faintly. I wouldnt mind a remake either. Didn't really know ff7 was still this popular.... but meh.

Eh, so far the PSP has only got FF1&2.... and basically those were just the GBA versions with new sprites and CGI cutscenes. It's the DS that's getting the real attention right now, with full 3D remakes of FF3 and 4.
More on topic though... well, with the Japanese market having largely shifted to handhelds, it makes sense that Square is focusing so much of their efforts their.
