Oh well!

I think with the way the industry is today every third party game should be multiplatform. Heck, it is already starting to happen.
[QUOTE="queenster08"]And Ferrari's can fly! I dont have proof, I just *KNOW* they can!! So, this guy says that the exclusivity is "under discussion" and that MEANS that it is coming to the 360. We can't DISPROVE it so it must be true. Well I say I had Unicorn for dinner last night. Prove me wrongOh well!

hold on, even if the white engine is open source, dont they state that it uses 6 of the 8 cell cores, cause if thats the case, then hoe can it get ported to the 360?lennygundam14well the 360's cores are each general purpose and more complete then the Cell's SPEs so a single core on the Xenon has more power than a SPE on the Cell. In addition the Xenon's three cores are hyperthreaded giving it six virtual cores. The White engine could run on the 360, but if Square Enix is making full use of the Cell then physics or something might be a bit worse on 360.

Sounds like all that techie mumbo jumbo boils down to "Any port of FF13 would be crap" We're not talking about Capcom, Acclaim, Bandai, or any other of those whores who will develop for any system no matter what. We are talking about Square, and while I'm at it, I'll throw Kojima into this category too. These are companies that CARE about quality in their product. They are creating the BEST possible game, that means that they need the BEST possible system. Right now the BEST system is the PS3. I think that a year from now when the game comes out, Sony will have an install base large enough to satisfy Square. They are not going to release a sub-par product (by their standards) to the world just so it can be multi-platform. I think that BEFORE they would go multi-platform, they would release the game with a $70 price tag. All that would mean is that Square has to ignore the profit potential in the Xbox market in order to make a BETTER product and they are asking the consumers to subsidize some of that.
That is a good thing, I love the series (except for FFX!), and I think that the game deserves to be released on all platforms capable to run the game. lukasz_erecinsk
Are you kidding me, FFX was one of the better ones, better than 8,9 and X-2 which I really hated.

No way, 9 was the best. X was probably second. 9 had the four character party, the abilities system, and one of the most emotionally charged and vivid endings of any game I've ever played.[QUOTE="GIJames248"][QUOTE="lennygundam14"]hold on, even if the white engine is open source, dont they state that it uses 6 of the 8 cell cores, cause if thats the case, then hoe can it get ported to the 360?ghaleon0721well the 360's cores are each general purpose and more complete then the Cell's SPEs so a single core on the Xenon has more power than a SPE on the Cell. I'm still not convinced a port would be "crap" as you so poetically phrase it. Yes, most ports are compromised in quality because of laziness or lack of concern, but I believe that IF Square Enix ported FF13 to 360 then it would be a quality product. That said since the game involves no mulitplayer then the PS3 version would still be superior just by the lack of disc swapping alone, although I doubt their would be much differences in either version aside from that.

Yes it would be "CRAP". Because it would mean that Square would NOT be putting out the absolute BEST product that they are capable of, they would instead be catering to the lowest common denominator.

But if you need an apples to apples comparison, each of the 360's 3 processor cores has two hardware threads each. An SPE processes a single hardware thread. Six threads is six threads. But nobody knows how many simultaneous processing threads any game uses except the developers. Chances are there aren't going to be that many threads at once anyway.
