FFXIII Release Date for Japan: 17 December 2009

Square Enix has today unveiled the Japanese release date for Final Fantasy XIII.

I imagine a U.S. release won't be too far behind. It's all a matter of synchronizing the english recordings which has already been completed. So probably by Spring 2010.

We still get the superior port of the game considering it's all on one disc as opposed to 4, was it?

Yeah, seriously. At best it will have English subtitles, and I bet there's a less than 1% chance that happens. I still might buy the Japanese version though just to have it since I have easy access to it. I may never play it, but I can at least look at it. Might become a collector's item one day.

I just looked outside my window and a Japanese guy dressed as Tidus was running down the street with a sign that had 12-7-09 on it. All the passing cars honked and an old lady with a walker chest bumped him. I think the Japanese are excited for this news.

Again... Stupid Square! SONY could have, and SHOULD have done more to retain exclusivity. Thanks to their idiocy not only do we have to wait longer, but there's less content. Sure I don't understand Japanese, but having the option would be nice.

Just like I was expecting, sometimes near Christmas with PS3 Slim near by.

Look back at previous titles releases we're about 6 months minimum before we see FFXIII outside of Japan.

I wish it was sooner but It's one of many games I'm looking forward to a lot. Now.. if only Yakuza 3 comes over.. ;)

One of the reasons for the delay was region coding, and translation. From what I understand both translation, and english recording has been completed and of course PS3 games are region free.

No, what's holding it back now is the 360 port. It's a shame because that means have to wait longer, AND it COULD have been a top holiday seller too.

Wow...what a letdown...to think of all the things we'll be missing out on because this game had to be scaled down in order 'to be fair' to the 360.
