One genre I have missed my entire gaming life is the MMO genre...So I know I am buying a MMO on ps4...Which one do you think I should get into too? Elder Scrolls PvP looks amazing? Any suggestions? Hows Final Fantasy?

Elder Scrolls is still in beta, so unless you want to wait (because I don't recommend having your first MMO experience be in a beta), go with FF XIV. Plenty of fun. Decent raiding community.

Better yet, if you have a PC, go with World of Warcraft. Best value for money MMO in existance. Massive amount of content. Active competitive PVP and PVE. Fairly easy to get started if you want to play on a casual basis. A lot of learning and preparation is required if you want to get in on the high end PVP (Rated BGs, Arena), and PVE (heroic difficulty raiding). And there's plenty to do and see in between. If you can get into a decent guild, learn your class and your role, and pull your weight in a group, you can do pretty much anything.

No PC? Get FF XIV: A Realm Reborn.

Now that the NDA has been lifted for ESO there is tons of information about this game. I have played two beta weekends and found the game pretty fun (do mind that the first 2-3 areas are boring and meant to introduce players to the MMO mechanics) once you'll get to through the tedious beggining areas.

FF though I have played for maybe one week and found the game utterly boring. The quests were tedious, the combat slow and really oldschool (think WoW but with longer global cooldowns) and the story was so-so. Dungeons on the other hand were quite fun and challenging.

If you are a PvP player than ESO is probably for you with their massive take on pvp. Basicly there are three factions fighting over the whole Oblivion map with 2000 players participating and up to 200 can bee seen on screen. You fight over taking controll of the different strategic points on the maps, keeps and you can eventually become the emperor if you're good enough ofc.

I dont know how pve will work out in ESO since I have not played that much.

Also graphics: FF>ESO & art style: ESO>FF.

Beware that most of the complaints against ESO is from players that are basing it on the early game (which indded is lackluster), players who anticipate Skyrim online (the truth is that ESO is a mmo based on the Elder Scrolls, therefore many singleplayer functions are removed), and the combat which in my opinion is way more better than most other MMO games out there.

I too have missed the mmo genre. FF14 is my first mmorpg. I bought ps3 just ot play it (I also bought ps1 just for ff7 years ago). I too am wondering about ESO and am thinking about switching. FF14 is awesome, having no preconceived notions of what mmo's like WOW were, everything was new. The story is strong, the graphics great for a ps3, the questing is mixed, at times you have the urge to skip the texts and just go to the place on the map that is highlighted, music is amazing, and the community is great (few negative experiences). The primal battles get your blood boiling, they are intense. FF14 also offers a more serene experience. The other night I turned off the UI display and just walked from the southern most point to the closest city and it was relaxing, just like fishing in the game is. What is most exciting about the game is the relationship between players and developers. Any problem or inconvenience that you notice is often noticed by many and is fixed in a few months. Also what is exciting and overwhelming is the amount of things to do keeps growing with every new patch.

With all that said, I do miss the immersion that Skyrim gave me. I am frustrated that there are mountains in FF14 that you cannot climb and backgrounds you can not walk across. The combat for FF14 on ps3 controller is unique and strong and I am afraid that ESO's combat system will be lacking. I am also worried about the feasibility of some of the systems in ESO. But if ESO pulls it off, I will gladly switch.

The feelings I get when I hear music from Skyrim are strong, I often miss Tamriel. But is ESO like Skyrim? I don't know. I think I'm sticking with FF14 for a few months and after ESO has been patched a bit I'll give it a try and hopefully the cost will go down.

So I say pick up FF14, give it a try. Later pick up ESO. FF11 online has been around 10 years, so I imagine FF14 will be there to go back to for a long long time-a testament to Square Enix's quality and commitment to mmo players.
