Final Fantasy 7,8,9?

Hey im looking into downloading FF 7-9 on the ps3. Im new to the FF series and i wanted to know are these downloads worth getting. The games themselves and also if there have been any significant alterations form the original that may make them less fun. Also any feedback on which is better would be great.

I think 7 is the best. Should start with that.

Hmm...Some say VIII, some say IX, but just because it has become trendy to dislike VII...!

They're three very good games, you can't go wrong with any of them, really!

I think i will try all three, i was wondering is there any way to play 10 and 12 outside of buying a ps2?

I tend to say this in every thread that mentions ff7-9. They are all good but to know which one you want to start off with I think you should consider the environmental/world settings of each game. FF7 have a very post apocalyptic and trashy feel. FF8 feel very "futuristic fantasy" and FFIX is more medieval and very very fantasy-ish. I'd recommend FFIX because I liked this one the most while I had a very hard time getting completely enjoying FF7 because I did not like the scenery very much at all.

In other words, don't let people convince you that "x"s story is better than "y" or whatever, take a look at some screenshots from all 3 of them and try to decide which one you think you would like the most.

FF 7 and 8are both amazing games.

I did not like 9 at all. ( Feels really kiddie to me )

FFIX in my opinion had the better story, characters, character build system and gameplay. Also, I do believe it's the longest of the three?

But on topic, buythem all, they're all amazing.

All are good. It all comes down to personal preferences about the characters in my opinion that determines which you'll like the most. I liked Zidane more than Squall and Cloud due to his charisma and energy. All the games had great stories, events, sidequests, etc. But it came down to characters as the reason why I prefer IX over VII and VIII.
