I didnt like it. Square needs to get off their ass and stop thinking of new ways to milk FFVII and the piles of cash they could make off doing so and focus on satisfying the true fans of the series with a well made game.

The game was well-made, at least, that's what most people say, I haven't gotten the chance to play it yet. But I'll agree with you, Square does shower attention on FFVII, but hey...it's the most popular in the series, so it's the easiest to make money off of as opposed to making sequels/prequels for other games in the series.
It was okay. It had good production values but it's gameplay was fairly repetitive and way too linear. There are definitely better action RPGs on the PSP IMO. It's story was pretty bad too IMO, though FFVII was no darling in that regard either.
I just started and love it so far,it is the first Final Fantasy I've played. Because it is a prequel, should I have played Final Fantasy VII 1st?
I didn't, I played Crisis Core first because I couldn't find a cheap copy of FF VII. I beat Crisis Core a long while back, amazing game, the story is very good, the gameplay is fantastic, and I personally think it is one of the best PSP games out right now.I just started and love it so far,it is the first Final Fantasy I've played. Anyway, as you may know PSN finally released FF VII back during E3 2009, and I just finally got it a few weeks ago. I have played maybe about 11 hours of it so far, and it is amazing.
Whether or not you should stop and play FF VII firstis up to you, I don't think it matters much what order you play them in. Though, I do think Crisis Core might spoil some things for you that are in FF VII if you play it first, shouldn't be anything too significant though.

Thanx for the info, I will probably buy FFVII off PSN once I beat Crisis Core.:)It's story was pretty bad too IMO, though FFVII was no darling in that regard either.Silent-HalLol Anyway, Crisis Core is pretty terrible. The new characters and baddies introduced aren't needed. The dialogue is poorly written and cheesy. The whole script reeks of pseudo-intellectualism (Genesis constantly spouting that LOVELESS play gets embarrassing). The story just starts to get silly and blotted, and it really does start to take away from the awesomeness of FF VII. The gameplay isn't up to much either. It's mostly just down to luck. Levelling up, limit breaks and summoning happen randomly (although I believe there's some stuff going on in the background that make them happen if they haven't happened in a while). Combat is basically mashing attack and every so often throwing in a cure spell. It's pretty weak stuff. It made me think that any remake of Final Fantasy 7 would just be awful. Still, it looks and sounds good.
I played crisis core when it first came out. It was my first ff game. I liked it. The graphics are crisp especially for PSP. Gameplay is alright, the only thing special is that you have this system where it is like a slot machine. And if u get numbers matching ( it might be one or diffferent numbers) then u lvl up. The story was interesting. And had some twists. I played it over and got to lv 54. The final boss is hard but the last scene is cool. The ending isn't a cliche in which the main char. lives happily ever after and etc. After the game my favorite char was zack although just 'bout everybody else LOVES cloud. I think zack's the original. One other thing, if u play this game u'll swear that Angel and Zack are related.

I agree. Zack is so much cooler than Cloud.

I do prefer Zack to Cloud but they are both the absolute epitome of cliche. Zack= Super bubbly, confident JRPG protagonist. Cloud= Extreme downer, depressed JRPG protagonist. Both been done too many times before :P

That's why I like Kiam from Lost Odyssey. Serious, yet not depressed.

Thats the reson Kiam is my main man, he's a refreshing take on JRPG protagonists IMO.
And he's in a great game, so that helps too.

well, it does make sense zack is confident. He wanted to become a 1st class soldier. But he isn't super bubbly all the time. ** my favorite scene of zack has to be in advent children when you see him, in the door smiling at cloud.
