personally, i think they should have made it into one game. i mean the GBA FF1 & 2 were in one game! the UMD probably has more than enough space to but 2 remakes of NES games.
It's all about marketing. They know all too well people will be willing to purchase them seperately at that price on this platform. They had to combine it and make it a deal on the GBA because not as many FF fans would be on that platform. After the first wave passes they'll reduce prices.
They're expensive, but they look great, have additional content, and let's face it -- this is FF you can play in your car, waiting for a movie, or even on the can.Â

Agreed, $30 for both on 1 UMD would be a good deal, but not for each. I've seen the updated graphics for these and actually look really nice. I hope they include the orchestrated music from the PSone versions.Â
Have you guys played Final Fantasy 3 on the DS? If not, your missing out because it's a awesome remake. If these games are done right like 3 on DS was, then these games will be worth every penny each one cost.

P.S. Before I get the fanboy remarks because I mentioned the DS, save it. I like games, not the systems they are made for. If a system has good games on it, I don't care who it is made by, I want it. If a system pretty much only has crappy games, then I don't want it no matter who makes it.Â

Agreed. If it's a FF3 level makeover than I can see 30. If it's a PS1 level makeover then SQUENIX is on crack. But we need a better link than that site.
$35 Canadian. That's nothing. I see PSP games at Wal-Mart and EB Games that are $40-50. I don't care that they're 20 year old games. 1: They're RPGs, offer many hours of gameplay 2: They're both great games
I see how this article refers to them as separate UMDs, however I thought the original Gamespot article stated they would be on one UMD. I don't know which is accurate, but the one UMD possibility makes more sense since as everyone has stated, the games have been previously released (twice) in one package.
