Final Fantasy VII Remake (Shall it be?)

A Final Fantasy VII Remake has been speculated by fans for some time now, and since the previously announced titles have been released (Advent Children, Dirge of Cerbreus, Crisis Core), a message from Hajime Tabata made us think more about the remake. After being asked if Crisis Core ended the Compilation he said: "No, it does not. The Compilation's finale will take some other form." So, does this mean that there will be a remake of the original game, or does it mean there will be another spin-off?
Also, if there was a remake, would Sony keep it on the Playstation 3 (As it should be), or would it do like Final Fantasy XIII and also go onto the Xbox 360?

((Yes i know a reamke would be impossible right now because of Final Fantasy XIII))

this whole thing about 7 being published by sony is probably rubbish now.

it was published by square in Japan, so that means they could release it on any console in Japan, and the fact that the game was released 11 years ago, would probably mean that any publishing rights have expired.

a company wouldnt hold onto publishing rights which would cost them money after that long. maybe now in the current climate, but back then when, PSN, live and digital distribution wouldnt have been heard of, sony wunt have thought theyd need them that long. theyd publish the game for a few years, then when sales die, they stop.

and publishing rights probably only apply to CD. they probably dont have publishing rights to DVD and even if they do they deffo wunt have Digital publishing rights. unless theyd agreed another publishing deal with square in the past year or so.

personally i think itll get released with an updated look on PSN and LIVE.

Guys by now have you guys got the picture that sony dosn't wanna remake its most famous games. They've done movies, spin offs and even anime based on VII. I reckon that if they haven't already done it I'm inclined to say they won't. I would totally love a good quality remake with maybe a bit extra.... something. A new combat system, a new character or two, a side story (the turks, Sephiroth dunno something like that) and maybe even just Advent Children. But yeah VII and VIII would be nice remakes. Especially with a new combat system!

I they really Remake it... One thing I WANT! They should make "Tifa Beautiful" as she was in FF Advent Children Movie...

If they don't, then its just a trash remake...

If there is a FF VII they should leave the combat system the same, just add those next gen graphics, voice cast and new extras

It is true that people got hyped about that, but SE is making an announcement related to FF VII at their event which will happen next month, that alone will let people get more hyped about FF VII remake.

Meh, I don't really care. But isn't Square Enix or w/e they go by RE-making every single FF game? If they do, I'll be waiting for Final Fantasy IX. I never got around to playing 7 cause I had played IX first... and 7 is a huge step down from what IX was. sinistergoggles

Oh.. I played 9, then 7. There's noticible differences between the games. And.. I mentioned 9 because Squre Enix seems to be remaking ALL of the old Final Fantasy games and I just said that I'd like to see 9 be remade.

Final Fantasy 7 has a high chance of being remade. Square has been remaking quite a lot of games lately, although they mostly include the older final fantasy's. On top of that they continue to expand on the story of Final Fantasy 7. They are well aware of the lasting impression this game has had on fans.

If it does come out I'm pretty sure it would stay a Playstation 3 exclusive. Although they could pull the "get it to as many fans as possible" card again, so i wouldn't count on anything.

we arent allowed to want a remake of a excellent game? and maybe you haven't heard but theres supposed to be a big announcement about the final fantasy 7 series, and a square exec. has said that they were gonna put the attention back on sony at their upcoming event in august. That is enough reason to at least hope for what mostly everyone wants

If a Final Fantay VII remake were to ever come to fruitition, I think it is safe to say that it would not be released until AFTER Final Fantasy XIII comes out for the Xbox 360 in the United States and Europe.

Square-Enix will pay close attention to how successful Final Fantasy XIII is on the 360 before making the decision to create a remake of Final Fantasy VII. If Final Fantasy XIII sells well on the 360, Square Enix could make the Final Fantasy VII remake multiplatform a well. If it is not successful, they may choose to develop exclusively on the Playstation 3 (or not at all).

I don't think I see anyone using the tech demo as their excuse for a FF7 Remake. They're all mostly using that Square Enix annoucement as their reason. I'm sorry, but just like the FF7 fans have absolutely no evidence that this game is in development or ever will be, neither do you or anyone else that says this game will not EVER be in development. I for one, take neither side, just merely stating how that poster says the same thing in every FF7 remake thread when clearly, people do not care about what he says and are obviously persistant in creating these threads.

I hope they remake Final Fantasy VII, because it's my favorite game... But..

This news is kinda old:

Hajime tabata, the director of Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, recently spoke to PTOM about the possibilities of a remake

PTOM: So that Final Fantasy VII remake that you've said will never happen. Why?

Hajime Tabata: I think it is because the condition that are not necessary to remake the game have not been met at this time. The possibilty for a remake may become greater if for instance, the schedueles of the original members of the Final Fantasy VII development team such as Yoshinori Kitase(director) and Tetsuya Nomura(designer/story) open up.

So there you have it. A Final Fantasy VII remake can't currently go ahead because the original team is currently extremly bussy with other projects. If, however, these schedueles would begin to free up, there may be hope.

Why does everybody wan't a remake? I'm more than sure that it will ruin the whole experience from the PS1 game.

Anyways, the 'shocking' announcement doesn't sound like an FF7-Remake, that wouldn't be 'shocking'. It must be something else.

Man, I have both a PS3 and a Wii, but I sincerely hope that SE doesn't release it on the Wii. Its graphics ability just won't cut it.
