Final Fantasy games have never given you the option of customizing your own character with the exception of FFXI. Why would they do it now?
And not everyone wants to create their own character. I know I'm ecstatic about the idea of playing as Lightning. FF13 and the other installments just don't call for character customization.
No FF has ever permited for appearance customization...
I personally cannot even start to imagine any of the main characters of the series with a face different from what they have...
Honestly, I don't feel it's a extremelly necessary feature, finding it truly boring to keep modding the appearance of a character instead of being playing the game, but hey, you are entlited to your opinion, so just don't buy it.
Are you serious with this? I guess there are a lot of games you will not be playing. Past, present and future. The whole point of giving us a set character(s) is to let us fall in love or hatred with the character. To have an emotional connection with them. Yeah being able to create your own character is nice but if you really want to do that so badly just buy FF14.
I think that game being an MMO has some what of character customization. Plus like Yoko said not ever person wants to create a character. A lot of people love seeing the badass characters game devs let us play. You not buying a game because of something so small is ridiculous, your choice, but ridiculous none the less.
Well then you will not be playing the vast, vast, vast majority of video games. On what basis did you expect this feature in FF13? What past Final Fantasy games had this feature, or even hinted at it at all? It's like me making a post saying I won't be buying the next Elder Scrolls game because it doesn't have a hybrid turn based battle system, and isn't linear and tightly woven enough in it's main story. This post is way, way out of left field.
Technically, FFXI did, but this is certainly an odd question and dumb requisit for buying a game.First of all, i'd change ur title to XIII, x111 just looks weird. Second, I don't think any FF every had appearance customization.

FFXI isnt a "real" final fantsay game anyways.First of all, i'd change ur title to XIII, x111 just looks weird. Second, I don't think any FF every had appearance customization.

yeah ur right, but i dont really count it cause its online
[QUOTE="jkhd831"]Technically, FFXI did, but this is certainly an odd question and dumb requisit for buying a game. The customization was so painfully limited though that you still ended up having a character who looks exactly like a few thousand other people on the server.First of all, i'd change ur title to XIII, x111 just looks weird. [QUOTE="starwarsjunky"]my customized characters usually end up looking freakin ugly anyways :PryrulezJust like you then. very true
Are players allowed to alter their character's physical appearance in FF13? Do not game developers realized that all types of people buy their games and these people don't all look alike? It's pretty easy to avoid this problem by allowing players to create howTHEY want their own characters to look. Without this option, I will not be purchasing FF13. Even though I want this game badly, I can not support a company that doesn't recognize the many different cultures that make up their market. This is 2010 after all.gamespotlady
wow your game library is going to be sad and lonely. on a side note, please don't purchase ff13, thats another copy for the rest of us who don't have nazi like requirements to play a game.
I also heard that there are zero towns to explore and buy stuff at? All your buying/selling is done at a save point? if this is true I will be seriously upset.

It is true. I'm a bit upset too... but if the game is good, we'll all learn to live without that...
I seriously hope they never do this in Final Fantasy. I can see why some people might like it, but I hateeee it (it's one of my biggest problems with WRPGs and why I don't like them). I just never care about characters I custom create mostly because their part in the story seems so much more like an on-looker than anything meaningful (just my opinion, of course).
EDIT: FF11 and 14 are obviously different and are online.
EDIT2: After thinking about it some more, I guess it really depends on the game. I enjoyed games like FFXI and WoW (mainly cuz playing with friends), but those are MMORPGs and are VERY different from regular JRPGs, so I dunno. :S
Actually, Dissidia: Final Fantasy did...Final Fantasy games have never given you the option of customizing your own character with the exception of FFXI. Why would they do it now?

When have you ever been able to customise your character in FF?ryrulezYou haven't been able to. The TC is really demanding..I'm sure his 1 loss of sale wont hurt FFXIII at all. I'll be getting it myself..I prefer pre-configured characters anyways.

Err. not really, it's not a big deal. Why would you wanna do that?
Character customization isn't the future of gaming. Never has been either. FFs have never offered CC before (though FFXI might have had some form of it, but no-one remembers that game much for a reason). I don't like CC since it means less characterbuilding and personality. Some games can have it, but if FF makes it a staple, they would lose a fan right there.
