I love how they say "subtle" yet it's just a blatant, let him die.
Things aren't going well on the Square Enix front.
Well think about it... Japan's market for gaming and everything else has been decaying to western developers. They're losing a heritage that they had originally limitless control over. I could see how they're upset... Especially by seeing so many of their own deveolpers turning to the 360 from the US. I'm sure it comes almost as an insult to them that they're falling behind to European and American Game Developers...
After They went over all this at the Tokyo Game Show I'm sure they're planning out ways to regain they're title and earn themselves once again as top dog in the video game industry... at least along side the rest of the world.
Just try to put yourself in their shoes... Or try to picture a reversal of the 360.. imagine if the Playstation originated in the US... And for some of us the Playstation is our fondest memories... growing up look at all the great times we had with some of the best games of all time... I would hate to see the PS go under... though I highly doubt it ever would thankfully
SE isn't in good shape. That's part of the reason for multiplat. I see Level 5 taking the spotlight off them. This is coming from someone who's played SQUARE games since the original FF on NES.emitsu97
Square has put out so many mediocre games lately, it's hard to even consider them a quality dev until they roll out a new Final Fantasy. I can't wait to see Star Ocean though.
I don't think it has to do with Sony's or MS's supremacy, as much as it has to do with work conditions. Remember that most of those people were already there when Square moved to Sony, and none seems to care much.
Japanese game developers are known to work overtime, on a thight schedule and stressful conditions. I am not saying other people don't, but they are more well-known for that. Just read the Ryan Payton interview about his experience going to work to Japan.
Under those conditions, it is not uncommon that people grow angry at their bosses. Specially if they find out that they will work on two versions of a game instead of one (even though that can't sound as news to them).
