Finally a PS3 owner.

We all know a PS3 is one expensive console, but yesterday when I read about that special bundle (MGS4 & KillZone 2) at BestBuy, I rushed out and grabbed one. Not only that, but I was waiting patiently for a Blu-Ray player and this will cover it up. I haven't followed a Sony's console since the original PS, so is there anything I've been missing on the PS3? I know about the big names titles like MGS4(always wanting to play this), KillZone, Uncharted(is this game really good?), and GOW, but are there any titles that, you know, that aren't that big but still great nontheless?

And I skipped out on Sony's E3 this year, so I'm pretty excited to see what games that are coming out in the future. I know about their version of the motion controls yada yada, I'm pretty sure anyone who's a gamer knows about that movement from all 3 companies.

well theres Flower on PSN which is ungodly amazing..... heavy rain is an anticipated title from E3 so is god of war 3... and uncharted is a very awesome game, one of the most halarious games ive played in a long time. valykria chronicles is a board favorite and a must if you have a PS3. if youre into fighting games get blazblue calamity trigger, the very awesome game. and if youre into racing games get motorstorm pacific rift motorstorm is like a racing dream, looks awesome plays great and has 12 maps with like a million diffrent race challenges for each map its good fun

Valkyria Chronicles (best JRPG this gen), LittlebigPlanet, Resistance 1 & 2, try renting Heavenly Sword its a pretty awesome but short game, Warhawk is one of the best online games this gen, MGS4, try Lair, i heard its better with the analog controls. There are a lot of good exclusives on the PS3 and PSN. Flower, Super Stardust HD, Flow, Pain, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Burn Zombie Burn, Fat Princess.

I wouldn't use that to turn the console off btw :) use the touch button on the front of the console or via the xmb/ps button. This allows the system to shut down properly. Then switch it off at the back... I cant say for sure if this knackers the system, but i've heard some stories :)

a word on uncharted-rent it,or borrow it first,the game is great dont get me wrong,but there are certain parts that the enemies are REALLY hard,and if ur like me,ur PS3 is lucky to still be in one piece. besides that,its great

also try little big planet,it may look like a kids game,but trust me,its awesome,basically EVERYTHING is customized abouto the game,no joke

Since you mentioned that you missed out on the PS2, and I am assuming your PS3 is backwards compatible...well,

Metal Gear Solid 3 is WORTH PLAYING as your first "Metal Gear Experience". It makes Metal Gear Solid 4 many times more enjoyable...if you can hold out, that is.

Persona 4 is an outstanding JRPG that requires a strategy guide and 80+ hours but is worth it.

Shadow of the Colussus can be found cheap as a used game I would imagine. It's artsy and fun for a while.

I would hold off on GOW until GOW3 comes out...OR...find a used copy of 1 or 2

As for the PS3, my favorite games have been

Valkyria Chronicles is an outstanding game if you like tactics and can enjoy anime

Metal Gear Solid 4: again, I bought it at release and sold it because it takes 4 hours to "understand" Metal Gear...that's my theory...so why not spend them on Metal Gear Solid 3? Also check out the canonical plot on Wiki.

Killzone 2 was pretty good...

Demon's Souls is like getting kicked in the@#$ for hours on end, however, it's worth it (HARDCORE game)

inFamous is pretty good if you like action games.

Haven't tried Little Big Planet or Drake's Fortune, but they are supposed to be great...

There are others...look at the Demos at the PSN Store and enjoy the PS3.

Also Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Call Of Duty World at War, Brothers in Arms, Resistance 2, Vegas 2, Try Figh Night Round 3, then Round 4. There are plenty but I would start with some of these. Ok, assuming you have played multiplats. Because well, its easier if i only have to consider Exclusives, and the list of games to get is much much shorter haha.

Get every Exclusive available on PS3, except for maybe Haze, and Lair. All the other exclusives are gold IMO

So look up a PS3 Exclusives list for wherever you live, Print that sucker out, cross out Haze and Lair. then buy all the others on it :)

Well congrats on finally owning the best console out there. I myself just bought one/received as a graduation gift a few weeks ago (a 60GB model where the dude included MGS4 and another controller, all for $350). Admittedly I personally don't have any other games, but I've played some friends and recommend valykria chronicles (a truly amazing and unique blend of SRPG and shooter, with (from what I can tell) an awesome story/characters to boot), Littlebigplanet (oodles of fun), and Heavenly Sword (short, but beautiful, fun, and a powerful story, albeit rather simplistic (think mythology) story). Uncharted is pretty good, too. I usually loathe shooters, but I found Killzone 2 to be fun to play (although I will admit Gears is more fun, though if Killzone 2 has an semblance of a story it'll win in that department), and I intend on getting it. And, if Tales of Vesperia ever comes stateside in PS3 form (Japan is getting it this September (the 16th I believe)) get it. I played the $60 beta version, and would gladly pay full price to play the complete, PS3 version. It's that good. inFamous, to me, is like a Fable but with lightning and in modern day, and therefore pretty much just as enjoyable. Devil May Cry 4 also wouldn't hurt if you're into fast-paced, sylized action. And...well, that's pretty much the cream of the crop for what's out (ToV the only exception) currently. Some games (like Demon's Soul) look promising, but only time will tell.

motorstorm 2 is fantastic super underrated and tons of dlc jsut came out along with Heavenly Sword another underrated gem

as for big titles that are amazing I cant stress how much I love Gta4 and MGS4 along with uncharted being great and burnout pardise took away 40 hours ill never get back

Lair and Haze are definitely better than Untold Legends and Genji.

I wouldn't say all the exclusives are gold.

Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, Folklore, Hotshots Golf, Infamous, Metal Gear, Warhawk, Resistance, Motorstorm, Valkyria Chronicles, Little Big Planet, Killzone 2 are all cool games to pick up. If you can get Ninja Gaiden Sigma for cheap, then do so. If you are into fighting games, I would recommend getting those on the PS3 since it has the better D pad.

Try Ratatouille, Blade Runner, Planet Earth, Shoot'em up, Next, Pirates of the Carribean, Harry Potter, Spider man, Fantastic four, Ghost rider, Daredevil Director's cut, Into the blue, Transformers, The Condemned ...
