Have you guys seen the first 2 pages of this Sunday's best buy advertisement. Both pages feature sony tv's for sale with a deal of getting *600 dollars off when you purchase a sony tv and some movies and a ps3* which is pretty much giving away free playstation 3's with every tv purchased.

I know the tv's are 2grand each but its still a good move by sony and its nice to see some advertisement other than the lack of advertising its had lately in circuit city and best buy.

IT has nothing to do with sony bro. Thats all best buys doing, once the consoles are sold to stores, the stores have to find a way to move em, so sony has nothing to do with this promo.

Your saying a 600 dollar discount for buying a Sony TV and a Sony PS3 has nothing to do with Sony? cmon man obviously they are giving manufacturers discounts for the store to move the items.

I seen the ad at Best buy and it DOES have something to do with SONY. Circuit City did the same type Promo last week with a SONY HDTV and a PS3. SONY helps pay for the ads that why they got the front page. I think its a great promo. Discount the TV and not the PS3. you save a butt load of money.

Yeah and if Sony and microsoft dont have anything to do with advertisements why have there been full page advertisements for Xbox the past few months on Circuit city and Best buy. I think obviously they pay for it and sony is finally figuring out they need to do that too

Actually if you check the prices of the HD TV's they have been dropping for some time now. The thing is there trying to push the TV's more now. Getting ready for newer models to arrive.

Once sony sells the console to the store, their job is DONE. The tvs and ps3s are not the property of sony. The stores give them ad space because they want to MOVE the products. Sony isnt paying for that ad space.

It's a nice deal if your in the market for all of those items at the same time, but it's not that big of a deal, you can find the TVs on other places for the same as the discount, meaning you could buy the TV and then buy a PS3 and the BDs and still pay the same as the BB price.

Also, this isn't some new strategy, Best Buy did the same kind of promotion in late winter early spring with Samsung HDTVs, and the Xbox 360 premiums. So it's just something they are doing these days.

Actually, no, Sony's job is not done once they sell them to the stores, cause if you knew about sales, you know that Sony makes profit off of the sales of systems or whatever it is they are selling. The ads maybe done by Best Buy to help sell the system/tv/game/movie or whatever, but Sony has to pay big bucks for ad space, especially front page ad space.

Sony doesnt profit from the systems. They sell them to the stores and the stores do what they want with them. Example: Best buy/Futureshop sell the console for 700 dollars will EB sells for $660. If sony had any say in the way these consoles are marketed and what not the prices would no doubt be the same price at every store. Similarily, stores offer promos or deals like the one mentioned by the TC to move product. Sony has no say in these deals, they just supply the stores with the product and the stores do what they want with it.

Its a good deal because it makes it easy for the masses to jump into the next generation. They canlook at a price and see what there getting and make the HD jump. I agree thisis a really great marketing tool. Before I had my HDTV and my 360 I wasreally looking at getting one of the earlier deals with samsung and the 360.

Yeah I saw those. If I had the money and didn't have a PS3 those would be what I'd get.

It's amazing how fast big 1080p TVs are going down in price. PS3 having Blu-ray was definitely worth it.

You've never worked in a higher level position in retail, have you? Because you clearly don't know how the relationship between retailers and the suppliers works.

With this sort of promotion, it is VERY likely that Sony is in fact a part of it.

These big box/chain stores always have the highest prices. You can get that $2000 TV probably for $1400 online.
