Are you referring to a remake? I am both for and against this. I would want a remake ONLY if it were done correctly. Advanced graphics and voice actors are the only things I would want different. The battle system must completely be held in tact as well as all the side content such as the Golden Chocobo and Ruby/Emerald Weapon. That being said, if they did remake it, they almost assuredly would have to cut content. And for that reason alone, I would not want anything to tarnish it's namesake.I just finished my playthrough of FF7 on the PSN release of it, and instead of being happy like the numerous times of completing it disc-based, I am sad. I really wish that S:E would give it a little thought and just go with the re-release and modernized FF7. Thats the only game I have wanted for yearrrrrrrsssss. Thoughts, News, Complaints anyone?

Well it's not about the size of it. The thing is, there is a LOT of content in that game. If they wanted to make it in a realistic amount of time, they'd need to cut content. In fact, I recall one of the developers of FF13 talking about how long it'd take to make FF7 look like FF13 and he ballparked it at 30 years.Yeah I was speaking remake. I just think that it could be done soooo well nowadays. With top-notch voicing, advanced graphics, and whatnot. I don't know that content would have to be too much. Isn't a standard blu-ray disc, 50 GB? No doubt they would probably pull a DLC for the golden chocobo and ruby weapon, but I would even deal with that, I just want it so freaking bad lol. No doubt the battle system should stay intact, thats part of the charm of that game, it was put together sooooo well.

Squenix themselves said that remaking FF7 would take a ridiculous amount of time and money. Like, hundreds of millions over more than half a decade.
That's because they'll focus on making no-substance cutscenes that are horrible and stupid, because showcasing graphics capabilities is a nice novelty for the first few minutes. But then it's time for some fun gameplay for goodness sakes.
I played FF 7 for the first time in 2008. I don't see any need for a remake, I played it and enjoyed it and found it to be perfectly fine the way it is. Explain that.
employing certain aspects to a remake like better graphics and voice overs sounds like a good idea but in reality i dont know how well it would look.
think of it this way: if we were to remake a super mario game originally released on the gameboy to the PS3 (of course not since the rights are held by Nintendo), it would simply be like putting make up on a corpse
i LOVED the game when i played it in middle school so many years ago, but genres and games generally have evolved in terms of gameplay and content to satisfy a larger market share of gamers
so, as much as i would like to see a re-release, i would rather have them remake it completely and have the same themes, side quests, and extravagent world designs.
BUT, i am looking forward to seeing what versus 13 looks like
(as a note, i really was for a one in one remake of FF7 a couple of weeks ago until i rethought it lol)
I doubt there will be a remake since the guys who made the original would all have to be on board for Square to go with it (heard it somewhere) and the chance of all the hundreds of staff to be free all at the same time are pretty slim if not none. Apart from that I don't want it to be remade becuase it is such a classic and becuase if they added voices, they characters wouldn't sound right in english and since I don't understand Japanese I would be raging all the way through.

This.
I fear that they will screw it up, and i know the will.
So no, i dont want a remake.
I was always for a re-make...until I saw how Dirge of Cerberus (and Crisis Core to an extent), butchered the story. I've never played DoC, but recently noted the story it carried, and my word, it was quite brutal if I say so myself. I thought that with it being a spin-off, it would have a 'sidelined' story, but instead SE tried to make it grandiose and pretty much screwed it.Instead it made FFvii's events seem pale by comparison, which is never a wise thing to do.
Crisis Core you could somewhat accept, it being directly linked to ffvii and Zach, it felt like it did it's job in being a small addition to the ffvii story. But even then, I (and probably most others) hate the addition of Genesis and Angeal...especially Genesis.
I worry now that if SE did a remake, I wouldn't put it past them to include Genesis and other 'outside' additions to the story, so that the whole ffvii compilation story makes sense. That worries me. If they can keep the story as it was, then yea, ok, but I'd be extremely worried until confirmed.
I'm not so strict on gameplay though. I'd prefer a bit of a change to the gameplay, to keep things fresh. If they stuck to the original gameplay...that'd be almost pointless to me. However perhaps I'm being too rash, the upgrade to ps3 capabilities might bring out the natural changes I'd prefer, while still keeping the basic gameplay system....if that makes sense...
However, given DoC's ending, aren't we more likely to get a sequel (whether it be a sequel to DoC, or a proper one to FFVII...given the ending seemed more relevant to FFVII than DoC) than a remake? I'm quite surprised I've heard nothing related to DoC's ending before. Could SE actually have come to their senses and shelved that idea? Thank God if so.
