Firmaware update?? help

i have a question about the firmware updates:question:

so my system firmware is ver 2.42 can i download right away to ver 2.53 or do have to do all the updates in order

no see the thing is i already downloaded the update from ps3s website

im just afraid that i need to download an earlier update before i could instal this one

no i do have online i just dont like downloading from the ps3 thats all cause i dont wanna waste my precious gaming time on downloading updates
