firmware 2.00 is fake (Leah herself says so)

 take this with a grain of salt, although i think that everyone should take this firmware update thing with a grain of salt.  this person on psu states that she is Leah (Leah is the person that posted the info about the update) and that somebody went into her account and posted all that fake info.....sooooo i dunno?

true or not true......but 1 things 4 sure that things mentioned in the update look possible i mean if a new firmware update does come out it'll prolly be something like that brown_flame

well either way.. it was hyped up and excited.. but i think it is possible..

These people make it sound like everybody in their family would want to sneak in to their room and exploit their account. Oh yeah, i heard it countless times - "My boyfriend was using my account at that time" or "My brother sneaked up into my room and posted all that". It's a lame excuse to save some embarassment.

For those wondering who leah is, she is a moderator over at the official Sony US forums. She is very knowledgable about the system and is usually on top of the update information. If someone went through the trouble of hacking her account (more likely a lucky guess at the password) then someone needs a life. Morelikely a coverup of her own jumping the gun believing a report from elsewhere.

Also, don't believe that article that quoted a source as Sony's press site- I have access to it from working at another site and there is nothing about a firmware update there.

Ok, I'll give you that...Sony did skip 1.4...however, that generally doesn't happen often (skipping multiple versions), and also if you read the update details Kernal posted, you'll see that some of the supposed upcoming features...WE ALREADY HAVE.

EDIT::So I went back to read the "update" and the only one remotely close to being something we already have is the "CD Information can now be entered".   

I think Sony forced her to retract the statement.  What kind of moron would hack someones account to post information that cant hurt anyone. I mean, If someone hacked her account and posted her Password and Login Name or something.  Even personal information would make sense.  It wouldnt make sense for someone to hack it to say "Hey, HERES 2.00!!"

Theres enough morons who can just make a User Name or Use an existing one to post stupid info that is false. Why would you spend the time and effort to make the post look "Official", Just so that people are let down.  I mean, If you look at those forums, You obviously play PS3.  Why would a 360 F.B. go through all the trouble to make the PS3 look superior to the 360 updates??!!?

Just wait for gamers day.  I have a feeling around 12:00 A.M. PT, We are gonna get a little message on our PS3 that says "An Update is now available".

I can't believe you believe her.... of course she's gonna say someone "hacked" her account, because this info wasn't meant to be leaked out. Sony didn't want people to know about this yet, they did, so they told her and her informer to take it back, and try to cover it up. hence the hacker. She had no other way to cover it up, so she said hey, i've been hacked. BS!

who in gods name would waist their time to get on some random person's account name and be that detailed about the update. Also something else is fishy. She says, the update comes out blah blah blah, one post thats it, doesn't comment on where she got it, or anything just says what's in it, and then leaves. The next day she gets back on, and says it was a hacker and leaves. once again only leaves one comment and runs. Also she says, she couldn't get on yesterday afternoon, and it seemed odd to her. HELLO THE INFO WAS LEAKED 2 NIGHTS AGO!!! NOT YESTERDAY AFTERNOON This just proves to me that 2.00 is in fact coming, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it this week, right after Gamer Conf.

Yup, that's what I'm thinkin' too... I'm gonna be so pissed if this happens. 

for real, someone that hacks an account goes for damage not post a thread like that with very likely update information. From 1.7-2.0 the details of the update seem very legit. The amount of backtracking all of a sudden has been like if someone violated a NDA. Leah's also been the person to always pre-update post the details of the update before it is announced.

I say there's a good 70% chance of it being real.
