that should be the attitude from everyone since they dont let you go back once you get one and lots of times the patches are to prevent YOU from doing what you want with YOUR psp

Taken from the PSBlog. The updated includes the following:

  • For those of you looking to customize your XMB (XrossMediaBar), a few new colors will be added under the Theme Settings. These new theme colors can be used on PSP models 2000 or after (PSP-2000, 3000 and N1000).
  • A security patch has been added.
  • [Network Update] has been renamed as [System Update].

I don't see anything else listed.

PSP updating system got to be one of the things i fear the most. this thing is ridiculous. its like performing a delicate surgery every time. they need to change it so in case something goes wrong during update, the psp recovery mode can go back to the default system that came when you purchased it at the store. i am sure lots of people bricked their psp while updating and this is not the only case.

It's neither that difficult nor a dangerous proposition. I've updated my PSPfour or fivetimes and never had any trouble whatsoever - Including this 6.00 update. Quit clucking about the sky falling. The only people who fear updates are cheats and hacks. Period. The update process doesn't brick PSPs, the poster is "being imaginative".

After update I've got some errors when connecting to AccessPoint. First try throws error, and then when I reconnect everything goes fine.. Anyone has similar PSP behavior after 6.00?

The only people who fear updates are cheats and hacks? so i must use cheats and hacks if i fear then according to your faulty conclusion. i don't care to play any psp games online just because i already have better pc online games that i can enjoy more and are more competitive than any psp game out there. and i don't need to use hacks, because i make enough money to purchase a new psp system every day if i wanted to. i have updated my psp too each time a new update came out, but i always worry about something bad happening. it shouldn't be that way. there should be a backup option to revert back to default store bought system software in case something DOES happen.

If PSP system update touches flash memory - there is nothing you can do. Flashing phones, MOBOs and other devices was always risky.. If PSP update don't flash memory - I think you PSP is safe :) Just use charger every time you're updating firmware.

Break out the hip-waders, it's getting DEEP in this thread... Aren't we the little braggart? Seriously, why should anyone feel any kind of sympathy for you, then? If you're so much better-off than the rest of us? Seriously Jason, you usually have good things to contribute, what's with the holier-than-thou attitude?

when you accuse people who supported sony from day 1 purchase of their psp and have posted before about anti piracy in THIS same forum before and how it affected new games coming out, its hard not to feel insulted and take it personally. i hated my own post at first, and if that's what i need to say in order for you to understand i don't support hacking/cheating, then that's what i must say. i don't expect people to feel sympathy for me. when i posted originally i was feeling sympathy for the person who broke his psp updating his firmware, and i figured other people might have experienced similar situation before. i have no idea that its 100% safe for people that have legit PSP and it only affects hacked psp's. as far as i am concerned psp should have a "reset" button that you can use using a tiny needle to make the system reboot and go back to original software. (i have seen this option in my old mp3 players). as far as bragging concerned, i am sorry, but considering i am using a psp2000 still instead of buying new ones you can be rest assured i don't spend unnecessarily. there is a reason why i fear about breaking/bricking my psp 2000. its was a gift, and holds sentimental value to me.

Well, they gave us the ability to sort games - what I've been waiting. If only I could sort them by game type (like PS One games, PSN, etc.)
