can i firmware update my psp slim using my ps3 as an access point? i tried but it says "connection to the server failed. a DNS error has occurred.(80410402)" what does this error mean?

i have firmware 3.71 which came on the system.

you could alway download the update either directly on the PSP using the network update feature and wifi internet access. or download the update on your PC from the playstation site and then transfer the files to you memory stick. Just make a folder called UPDATE in the GAME part of your memory stick, then update . But make sure you have a fully charged battery, and have the PSP connecter to an outlet, if the power fail while your PSP is updating it will damage the PSP.
