Firmware v2.0 may not just be a rumor

Well i was listening to the friday 1up podcast and they where talking about the new firmware and somewhere in there conversation they said that v2,0 was come out soon with the "cross media bar over the games". Well just an update for those how lost hope after v1.8ofx360

that was a rumor from last week.  while the person who started the rumor has been very good at getting the functionality correct on firmware updates....it's still a rumor until Sony releases something.

EDIT::: Although, with the Korean launch coming up, there could be a big update afoot.  Similar to background downloading coming with the EU launch.

what is there to confirm?  nothing.  Sony has not released a statement saying that in-game XMB access is going to be part of the 2.0 firmware.  Until then, or until the firmware is released, it is still just a rumor.  nobody can "confirm" it except for Sony. 

in my opinion the XMB access will come with v2.0. its a huge thing and every new HUGE update starts with a new number.

Ex.v1.0 v2.0 v3.0

those all will be huge updates just as the PSP updates were. thats just my opinion so dont bash it. :)

These are reviewers that im talk abou,t not some random kids.Now during the podcast they where saying that there is alot more games that sony hasn't revealed yet and they where vaguely describing them so to not give anything away. So im pretty sure they're "in the know" about a bit. So when they say that firmware update with xmb in-game capabilities are coming i think i can believe them.

 yep, the first number indicated a major version (eg design and feature side), second number indicates a minor version (new features), a third number indicates a very minor change, sony dont release updates until they get to a minor version to release.

I believe 2.0 will be very interesting. :)

Sony has released 5 firmware updates that only incremented the last number(being the very minor changes).

And that im recollecting i do believe they got the firmware thing from a Playstation forum and the forum got it from one of the playstation website and the playstation forum was immediately pulled down so... if that doesn't say anything to you well... i dont know

I am not saying that in-game access to XMB will not happen in the 2.0 firmware.  I am saying, don't believe everything you hear on the internet.  Anybody can make up a rumor.  Just because somebody usually knows what they are talking about or are "in the know", doesn't mean they can't be wrong.

alot of forum moderators delete "rumor" topics(unlike GS).  also, forum moderators do not work for Sony. 

while the posts being removed could mean something, it could also be just the deletion of a "rumor" topic. 

Sony's just following a roadmap they have set up for their firmware upgrades. I'm sure 2.0 is being tested as we speak to be released sometime in the next couple of months. I'm also sure we'll see a 1.9 update before then. Unless I'm mistaken, Sony has been releasing firmware upgrades every month, so we could see 2.0 sometime in August, before the big releases of fall.DeviantBoi

you are correct.  FW version 2.0 is not a rumor.  However, the features that are said to be included in that version ARE RUMOR. 

There will be a 2.0 in not too long. We got to 1.8 in about 6 months, so the 0.2 left will not be too long.

XMB over game will surely come eventually. 1.0 updates are much more important than 0.1 ones, so 2.0 would be a good time for it.

"wouldn't be surprised"....that's exactly what you said, right? You do know that it means that you believe something that has not been confirmed. You don't know for sure that it's going to happen...yet wouldn't that make it a RUMOR? Something being stated to happen without any proof?

Someone just names a feature off the top of their head, and if Sony doesn't deny it, then it's obviously true. well that's nice, let me run to the local news station and make up a story because it will be true unless somebody releases a statement saying that it's false.

I would think that FW 2.0 would come with the launch of Home. You know, that whole gaming 2.0 line or whatever they were saying. I know they were talking about gaming in general and not specifically Home or a FW update, but still, it got me thinking. Anyway, we all know that we cant believe anything we hear/see/read on the internet, but people are entitled to their opinions. And if they think that some guy on a 1up podcast is a credible/reliable source, then that is his opinion. If you really dont like what the TC think/believes, then why even post here? You arent going to change his mind.
