Call Of Duty 4 is THE game of the year overall in my opinion. That said, Uncharted and Ratchet are both A + titles. Ratchet plays better to me, and offers the same visual quality, and superb gameplay that Uncharted offers. Uncharteds controls seem a bit too clunky though it does offer a more rich and mature storyline and setting.
Online wise, COD4 is solid. But the best online game right now is UT3. Overall the best PS3 game is a multiplat game, COD4, but Uncharted, Ratchet, Warhawk and UT3 all offer extremely solid experiences. I prefer online and multiplayer games, so UT3 runs away with it for me. I rented both Uncharted and Ratchet, and although they are both AAA titles, I beat them in the week that I had them easily and had no use for them after. Though they probably are the two best looking games for your PS3 online offerings such as UT3 are more bang for my gaming budget.
In the end you cannot go wrong with COD4. The single player campaign will blow you away (Play it on hard trust me! Or go big and do veteran like i Did!) and the multiplayer is one of the most solid experiences on the console.
