Looks like my last message in the other thread got deleted because of my language, so sorry about that mods

But I want the record to show that I repaired my PS3's YLOD personally, thanks to gilksy's guide on Youtube, & I recommend trying it to anyone whose PS3 has its warranty expired, or if you just want to buy a new one & recover your old data to copy into it. If it works you save a lot of money by not sending it to Sony & again you'll retrieve all your lost data too.

So now I'm probably going to get a new Slim this weekend & trade the 60gig in. There's no telling when the yellow light will strike again once it happens the first time.

What kind of thermal compound did you use?? I didnt have the YLOD but i took it apart anyways b/c i wanted to clean out all the dust and apply a better quality thermal paste (arctic silver 5) and now my 60G is as quiet as the day i got it.

YAY!

Meaning that if we ps3 owners get YLOD now we can fix it.
Rather have a YLOD'd ps3 than a RROD'd 360 :D.

That's really risky if you're not good with this kind of stuff, good thing you are though. I would of done the same, but I would be too worried to mess it up.

Congrats on fixing your PS3. I tried fixing my RROD 360 before and it didn't work so well so I ended up having to buy a new one. I don't know how often the original 80GB gets YLOD, but if my PS3 gets it I probably wouldn't even bother trying to fix it after my failed 360 attempt and end buying a new one from the start :P Good job though. Saves a lot of money that way.
