What is this about?? i thought it was an online comunity but all i see is a world map and a bacteria thingie moving nonsense and doing nothing more? did i do something wrong or do i have to wait the 8 hours it says to complete the investigation. Help appreciated.chacas
'Folding@Home' and 'Home' are two different things. Folding@Home is a program which enables you to simulate protein folding which can be used to cure cancer and sends back the simulation results to someplace when it is done. Home is an online community where you basically have a virtual double.

What Folding at Home does is it lets Stanford (I believe) borrow the computing power of you PS3 to analyze proteins which could lead to cures for diseases. This has been done for years in PCs. It's basically constructing a supercomputer out of idle systems signed on to their network. It takes an incredible amount of computing to do this analysis and this is a way of pooling it together so that researchers at the university can do their work.
