What is the point in folding@home it took me ages to download 1 work unit to 100% then an even longer work unit started to download does anyone know the point of it and how many work units do i have to download before something happens?

What is the point in folding@home it took me ages to download 1 work unit to 100% then an even longer work unit started to download does anyone know the point of it and how many work units do i have to download before something happens?

folding@home is a program you run that does simulations for a project at stanford to help find cures for cancer and other diseases. so doing the work units is all it does, you don't get anything other that the knowledge that you may be helping to save someones life down the road, maybe even your own.

Downloading a work unit is really quick, the calculations take about 6 Hours, and the upload is again a quick one.

It depends on the internet conection. If you have a faster one it will download faster.Â
