Does anyone remember Philips CD-i?  That thing was priced at $699 in 1991 and could play audio CDs, video CDs, and game CDs...these days I would be grateful for how much the PS3 costs considering it's a ps1, ps2, audio cd, dvd player, blu-ray player, internet browser, etc.  Anyways just a thought hehe.

Yes PS3 offer ALOT but i am sure sure the majority here would agree that if PS3 was $50 - $100 cheaper it would be alot better ...

im not saying PS3 is overpriced -- im buying 1 for A$1000 ( $795 USD ) but it would still be nice to see PS3 for $399 / $499 USD!

yea..they couldn't even get Zelda right.  But I'm talking price-wise, too many people complain that they're not buying PS3 for a certain feature like "Home" or to go on the internet or whatever...when it can do things that everyone might want to use eventually.

Thats true too if it was even a little bit cheaper. I read an article that basically said the consumers just don't know what they are buying, they only see the price tag...but I hope people take notice soon what will happen this year with PS3

I think the biggest drawcard is FREE ONLINE. Dont you have to pay like 60 bucks a year or something for Xbox Live?? Plus even the ps1 was close to being this expensive when it first came out. Well it was in Australia anyway...

yea well the ps1 and ps2 were $299 (in the US, and that was expensive a few years ago) when they first came out..but I remember ps2 being just as hard to find as a ps3 was a couple of months ago. I don't know...people don't realzize there's alot of similarities between this lanuch and the past playstation launches. I remember people thought Dreamcast actually had a chance against the PS2 when it first came out and were comparing the graphics and games when they were multi-platform.. But Sony is going to come through...I'm hoping everything that is happening now, gamers realize it's just the same and they should be patient instead of getting mad at every little thing that happens

When you add up the true cost of the 360, you'll realise the PS3 isn't that badly priced. Expensive, but not out of proportion.

The crazy thing is...people are actually buying all of the Sega CD-like add-ons for the 360. Wireless, new hard drive, hd-dvd..maybe Sony should start charging extra for online and disable blu-ray discs to be played unless you buy another add-on...that would make these crybabies shut up.

Anyone complaining about the price of a PS3 either can't afford one, or is a Microsoft fanboy. Sure it would be better if it was cheaper, but thats true about anything. The PS3 has become the butt of everyones joke. It is amazing to me that people care so much. Is nothing else going on that they have to focus on PS3? I mean even non gaming media outlets are ragging on it. I wonder what Sony did to everyone that warrants these responses? I still believe Sony will end up on top. I predict only about 40 percent market share this time around though. Some would call that a loss for Sony. I wouldn't.
