For the PSP, do you specifically have to use a memory stick?

It depends where you shop. If you're comfortable ordering online try amazon. I ordered a 16 gig memory stick pro duo for about $20 bucks new (that's a heck of a deal)

I used to have a PSP. Yes, it should be a memory stick pro duo. The one which can also be used for some SONY digital camera models.

No other memory stick brands work as well such as Sandisk, It does not have to be a Sony brand Memory stick duo or Memory stick pro Duo Mark 4.

That is somewhat confusing. It does have to be a memory stick pro duo, right?

I think what he meant is that you don't have to feel obligated to buy a "Sony" brand memory stick, usually Sandisk is a good alternative and a much cheaper one. You might find some Sony 16G memory sticks for 40 or 50 bucks while sandisks at 20 25 while keeping a decent quality.

In other words, I can buy a memory stick pro duo made by Sandisk, and not necessarily Sony?

Also, I noticed one that said Micro M2. Do these work as well?

Sandisk cards won't work well with PS1 games

Got 2x sandisk 8gb cards last year and "Do you want to quit the game" screen pop ups constantly

Get Sony one to avoid unnecessary hassle
