I have a perspective I'd like to throw out there, it's something I haven't read in any forum I've visted so far.

Complaints I've heard:

"PS3 doesn't warrant it's price."

This is controversial in some aspects. I understand Xbox 360 gives you the "option" of buying the accessories you want, but say for the individual like me who enjoys gaming and movies.

Xbox 360 Elite: $479.99

Play & Charge Kit: $19.99

HD-DVD Player: $199.99

Wireless Adapter: $99.99

Total: $799.96

800 Bucks. Now I've had both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray in my opinion has a better visual quality and the sound quality on a Blu-Ray is unbelievable compared to a HD-DVD. The Play & Charge kit to me is a must have, unless you want to spend a fortune on AA Batteries. If you want to have the best visual quality possible for gaming you have to buy an Elite in order to have access to an HDMI port. Alot of people have modernized to wireless internet, another way for Microsoft to squeeze a little money out of you with their 100 dollar price tag for a little piece of plastic. 800 Bucks for a machine that is not as powerful, does NOT have a good next gen player and still uses DVD format for gaming and is going to age really fast when 9 Gigs tries to compete with 25-50 gigs.

What you get with the 499.99 PS3. A quality Blu-Ray player which you'd have to pay 500 bucks for seperately - http://www.blu-ray.com if you dont believe me. It comes with the rechargable wire for your bluetooth controller. Built-in wireless adapter and an ethernet port with a nice size cable if you dont have wireless. ALL games are produced using Single Layer (25 Gigs) or Dual Layer (50 Gigs) format, EAT THAT Microsoft. It has the ability to run an operating system, internet browsing, Mouse and keyboard support in the usb ports for gaming and its just a more powerful console, hardware speaking.

Other Concern: "Sony's game lineup doesn't warrant the investment."

Check out the E3 section of GameSpot for these games.

Metal Gear Solid 4, KillZone 2, Unreal Tournament 3, Folklore, Call Of Duty 4, WarHawk, Lair, Heavenly Sword.

The final point I'm making is in regards to the current fiasco regarding the 60GB and 80GB PS3. It's very simple. It's a good system, it has a strong lineup of games coming soon and a solid Blu-Ray player. If you have PS2 games and you dont have a PS3 yet, be safer than sorry, get the 60GB with the emotion chip because we all know how lovely Emulation backwards compatabilty works, right Microsoft? If youre starting fresh with Sony, pick up the 60GB for the discount price or if you want 20 more GB's in your HD, cause thats the only difference aside from the above, get the 80GB Model. Sony's a bonehead sometimes in regards to business, but we've got a promising piece of hardware and some good looking games to look forward to, so lets stop our complaining and get back to gaming where we belong.

Eh I could get a ps3 at best buy right now for 500 plus a 50 dollar gift certificat to put towards a new game and 5 free blu rays and im still not sure. For one it comes witha controller that HAS to be upgrades and it also has no good games RIGHT NOW that cant be found on the 360. I am considering though but if i did it and at christmas the 80 gig with motorstorm drops to 500 i would be pissed. the 5 free blu ray movies doenst interest me because blu ray disks are inferior to hd dvds and i refuse to support that much DRM on one disk. also the choice of movies for the 5 free BLOW

You Must be a really big fan boy!! to type all of the b.s ,here let me put out some the choices u get to pick with xbox 360..and remember thats your choice that you put up there!!and here are choice that you can pick

XBox 360 elite: 479.99 (u don't have to buy this model, there are 2 more different models that is cheaper one for 299.99 and 399.99)

Play& Charge Kit: 19.99 (u don't have to this use your own batteries)

HD-DVD Player: 199.99 (u don't have to buy this,u can download moives from Xbox live in HD)

Wireless Adapter: 99.99 (u don't have to buy this ,it's has a ethernet port too!!)

From the begining xbox 360 was always about your choices ..buy the stuff u want!!! and not the stuff u don't need..Here let me tell u my cost:

Xbox 360 Premuim: 399.99

Batteries: (Use my own)

Wireless Adapter :don't use it(using the ethernet port..you can ask anybody using ethernet wire is better than wiresless speed)

Xbox Live 12 months : 39.99 (circuit city had a sale)

total cost without tax was 439.98(since you aint adding tax on your prices)

So don' tell people ps3 is cheaper !! get your facts right!! and don't bring up stupid topic like this !!this belongs in systems wars!!

My price for PS3

Playstation 3: 599.99 (thats the one with 60g and wireless and i bought it at launch)

HDMI Cable: 100.00 (u need this for better picture and for 1080p,which most t.v or lcd only supports 1080p on!!)

total cost 699.99 without tax

and one more thing to add for the first time buyers for a ps3,they don't include component cables..so everything looks pretty ugly without hdmi or component cables ..so its best to get new cables..(everybody with a ps3 can agree with me on that!!)

For those that are not sure if they want to buy a ps3,just ask yourself what u want and what games u want to play ..I own Ps3 and a xbox 360..As of right now 7/13/07 ps3 doesn't have that much games and xbox 360 has alot of games..and don't start with that mgs4,heavenly sword,etc..i been waiting for long time and still no playable demo!!that just piss me off and xbox 360 has 3 downloadable demos to play from E3.Hopefully sony get their **** straight!!most games are coming to both system!!and yes blue-ray has more space but its up to the game companys to use up the space ..look at gta4 xbox 360 has more missions!! so don't think blue-ray is better for gaming its really up to game companys to decide that!!and so far xbox 360 games has the same amount of levels and same graphic(sometime looks better too) on a dam 9g DVD..IMO just wait !! maybe xbox 360 will have price-cut and maybe ps3 will have another price drop(THAT WOULD REALLY MAKE MY DAY)the choices is up to YOU!! not us

If you spent $100 on an HDMI cable, then you are REALLY REALLY stupid.

The thing I don't like about the 360 is that their hard drives are so ridiculously overpriced. I mean seriously...$179.99 for a 120 GB HDD? C'mon now...I can upgrade my PS3 up to 120 GB for about $100 tops. If I go with an external drive, for about $150 I can add on 500 GB. AND I would still have the 60 GB internal storage for my PS3.

I also love how I can use my Bluetooth headset from my cell phone on my PS3. Plus I obviously don't need to pay to play online. Don't get me wrong, Xbox Live is great, but Sony looks like it has a legitimate plan of action with Home.

In the end, I don't think there is any question that PS3 is a better deal because it has a Blu-Ray player built-in. If you have an HDTV, which most people who own these consoles do, you'd be a fool not to take advantage of the hardware. Blu-Ray movies look spectacular on an HDTV.

Oh...and my PS3 has Wi-fi built in. That helps a lot too.

hd dvd is better in every way. as far as studio support gos you can import blu ray movies on hd dvd because hd dvds are region coded ( blu ray is) and different coutnries have different distributors. for example I have the prestige on hd dvd when it is supposedly a "blu ray exclusive" ill have ghost rider soon as well.

haha someone doesn't read the tech specs if they think blu ray isnt higher quality than hd-dvd. plus most people prefer the real movie over a bootleg any day

For those who aren't sure about getting a PS3. I have gone through 3 Xbox 360's. My 4th has just started freezing, which in the case of my other ones means the red lights of death are coming. My PS3 has had no problems, I haven't heard of anyone else haveing issues either. PS3 also includes alot of features that Microsoft should just include. Like wi-fi, a cable for charging your 360 controller in box, and maybe even supporting there hd video format. They aren't even helping it out by including the option to dl the movies in hd. Also PS3 and PSP are getting a movie downloading store soon. It has been stated that it is in the works. Also the PS3 has many more user friendly options such as using an exiting blue tooth headset, connecting a printer, memory card readers for digital cameras, wi-fi, blu-ray, gaming console, internet, and many more options to come with updates. All for the current price of 499. 360 you have to buy all most of these seperate, and they are sold for much more than they are worth. Honestly I believe the 360 is cheaper for a reason, it is truley lesser hardware. We can all see that by its build quality. The PS3 just warrents its price tag.

I agree with you 100%..I don't see how people can bash Microsoft for giving us gamers choice. I guess some people like a company to dictate what they wan't. Some people are just looking to get into the next gen gaming anddon'tcare about ablu-ray player or HD-DVD player, wireless and what not. Just give them choice..which is why I aplaud Microsoft for considering that much and how much it would cost tous gamers. Some of these Sony fanboys are playing mind trickery...they know darn well that it's gonna cost the consumer more if they buy the peripherals seperate..but if it's built into the unit like Sony they won't be paying per piece...so you can't compare Microsoft's parts seperately to what Sony includes as a whole. If Microsoft included the HD-DVD and wireless etc. built in the Xbox 360 you wouldn't pay for each piece included...so take that propaganda some where else plz!

When a guy with a gears of war logo posts that PS3 is better, it becomes quite obvious. Realistically how could you disagree? Right now, 360 has a software lead....but PS3 always has, and always will have a hardware lead. It's a far superior system, blu-ray disc games alone is gonna kill 360 in the long run (Rockstar said that x360 is slowing the production of GTA4 due to the lack of disc space, so whoever said that GTA4 is gonna have more missions was wrong. The 360 is gonna have downloadable episodes, but those are probably just things they couldn't fit on a DVD9 disc..which they can on a blu-ray). Yea, games are ported for 360 to PS3 right now, X360 is easier to work with (as I'm told) and has been out longer, so developers are more used to working with it. The better developers are getting more and more used to making games for PS3....look at Oblivion! X360 refusal to have every system come with a hard drive is gonna burn them also, because companies don't want to force people to go get hard drives. By the end of the year, PS3 will have taken the software lead (Halo 3 is far past overrated, it's a good game, but it's not gonna cause world peace or no **** stop fronting) Mass Effect is dope...but what else does 360 have exclusive that dropping this year.....Bioshock? Come on....that's not competing with Heavenly Sword/Ratchet and Clank/Drake's Fortune/Warhawk/Unreal Tournament 3 (which is gonna be ported over to 360 NEXT year)Socom/Haze....must I say more? Let's be real man, if you say X360 has any advantages other than better software RIGHT NOW, your lying to your self.I haven't even mentioned the "3 lights of doom"....what does it matter what games 360 has if ya **** is broke?

Ok,

First of i would like to go on record saying that i paid around 550 for my xbox360 and all the stuff that comes with(mind you im from canada) and I honestly had no interest in the ps3 thought it was garbage like i hated everything about it, then i switched to G4TV and tuned into E3 where i first saw the xbox press conference and all i have to say is amazing i am gonna spend way to much money on games this fall, then nintendo looked sweet has some neat games coming ok thats cool, and then the sony conference i was kinda afraid to watch cuz i thought they were gonna make stupid claims but i watched the other 2 so i would watch this one. Wow that press conference all thou not the best i still think microsoft won e3 but that sony press conference is what made me go out today and buy a PS3 just for the games that are exclusive to it i was very impressed i think sony did an excellent job of turning that system around. Any game thats for both systems i will buy the xbox version but i bought the ps3 just for the exclusives i saw at e3 wow. I use to be a fanboy but after this e3 i couldn't help gaining so much respect for all 3 consoles as they all did an excellent job at either solidifying there place or kickstarting their system. I spent 600 dollars on my PS3 thats only a 50 dollar difference and with the game coming out for it, it was worth the price. So i now own a 360 and PS3 and am looking forward to the many hours of my time they will be getting of mine.
