From what I have seen non of the 40 gig PS3's support any PS2 games.

And if I'm wrong I would welcome any corrections on this subject.

right u are. 40 gb does not support ps2 games. it alsohas two less usb ports, comes withspider-man 3, and 100 bucks less.

So am I to understand that there will be no backward compatable versions available in the PAL regions as soon as they run out of 60GB versions (which I understand they are discontinuing)?

i work R zone at Toys R Us, and we dont recieve any 60GB models anymore, only 40GB

i checked our inventory computer for an 80GB, but there is no entry, so I dont know when PAL regions will

get backwards compatibilty back.

Sony Doesn't support BC anymore So once the 60GB supply is gone that's it, even the 80GB if and when it arrives in Europe wont have BC.

well here's the deal, the 40 gig PS3 will NOT have PS2 backwards compatibility, but for some reason it DOES have PS1 backwards compatibility with all the games
