Force off 576p???

Ok, well I just bought a 24" LCD monitor (ASUS MK241H btw), 1920x1200 of course, to play my PS3 on. The XMB and blu-ray movies look superb but I played Uncharted and it only takes up a portion of the screen, this is because I have it set to a 1:1 aspect ratio, so 1080p content has black bars and isnt stretched.

Well I set the ratio to full and it looks like crap, all pixely, because I assume the monitors scaler is crap. I went into the display settings to try and only select 1080p to force it and use the PS3's scaler, but I can't turn off 576p, so when I play Uncharted in 1:1 its even smaller. Just wondering if I could actually turn off 576p? I'm using HDMI cables.

EDIT: And no, my monitor does not have aspect ratio option that stretches the picture but still keeps it 16:9, also known as Aspect.

try with an HDMI - to - DVI adaptor and use a DVI cable for connecting it to your monitor... i'm using it on a samsung 19" monitor (940BW 2ms) with 1440*900 res. and running games at 1080p just smoothly...(and no aspect ratio problems, no strecth images or anything else)

just buy it if you find it cheap...

Your monitor. My TV is 1080P and my 360 games work a treat on it at full 1080, and I also have a PS3 and the games work fine, full screen but displayed at 720P.

bigger tv? i think 32 is the minimum that ps3 should be played on.
