Anyone else trying to download this and having it take forever? Sometimes games take hours for me to download and other times 30 minutes. But this is ridiculous. It's gone from 42% to 46% in 3 and a half hours.

Indeed. Essentially, you pay to RENT RE5, doing it this way, because the minute you don't pay your subscription, it's gone. The game costs less than $10 at my local resale, Gold Edition. PS+ might be good for some things, but I wouldn't bother downloading 8g of game that's just going to be taken away. The economics of it all don't add up for me. If it works for YOU, more power to ya.
Took me 42 minutes to download on my DL connection. (17MB), I never had issues with PSN downloads for the last four years since I had the console.
It's $4 a month for PS+ You get several free games, lots of discounts per year. It's definitely worth it.peace69
Who are you trying to convince, us or yourself?

Who is "us"? You said the economics don't work, just pointing out that $4 a month is nothing, and you make it back very easily with the content available. There's 2 things you can do to get PS+ games faster. Once a game is announced free for PS+, you can download its demo or timed trial, which is basically the full game. Not all games have demos, but many of the free games do. When the game becomes free, you'll have to download the full game unlock if it's a demo or start up the expired 1 hour timed trial. The next free games are usually announced a day before the store updates in your region on the Playstation Blog. Downloading a PS3 Proxy Server should boost download speeds if your actual connection speed is faster than what your PS3 performs at.
Don't even bother with it then, the game is terrible anywayAnyone else trying to download this and having it take forever? Sometimes games take hours for me to download and other times 30 minutes. But this is ridiculous. It's gone from 42% to 46% in 3 and a half hours.

not saying its good or bad, just want people to say what it is. "free with PS+", not just "free" ;)I'm downloading it now, it seems to be going reasonable speed. MOH Warfighter trial took probably 12-15 hours though.
Can people please not go on the ps+ good or bad rant anymore? I see everyone's point, and nobody is going to change each others mind

Are you sure you know how PS+ works? If you sign up now you'll get to play 12 games the first month with 3 games cycled in per month. You'll be able to play any free game you've redeemed for as long as you're a subscriber, so that means you'll have access to 45 games if you stay a member for a year. That's before counting the PS Vita's instant game collection and extra games that Sony has been giving out nearly every month. Some PSN games are free on day 1, like VF5: Final Showdown and Double Dragon Neon.[QUOTE="peace69"][QUOTE="The-Apostle"]It's not free. I would love to answer your post, but I think I'll respect the post which asked for an end to discussing the worth, or lack-there-of, in PS+ as I think that person has a good point about the futility of such discussion here. In the future, perhaps read all of the posts in the thread before jumping in.
On-Topic: Good luck to those who're awaiting a refund. I believe you should get your money back because it really WAS a bit of a faux-pas on Sony's part with the initial listing. Please post your results - It would probably be helpful info for others who might have made this same mistake.
:)
Peace, all.

I share MonkeySpot's sentiment, Rogue. Are you sure YOU know how PS+ works?
PS+ does not give you "free" (in the literal definition) games in the same sense that Gamefly does not give you "free" games either. You're paying for the SERVICE which INCLUDES access to games. Same as you would pay for a subscription to GF which is a SERVICE which INCLUDES access to games.
Would you categorize Gamefly games as "free?" No, because it's a SERVICE that you are paying for. Same as PS+ is a SERVICE that you are paying for.

Yes, I know it's a service that includes more than just games. I know the games aren't free, but I think anyone interested in PS+ knows that by now. What MonkeySpot said was that you're paying just to get RE5 Gold and how it's only $10. 'The economics don't add up.' For people who have bandwidth caps or slow download speeds, it sucks and probably isn't worth it. For me, the value is obvious. It doesn't matter if you value RE5 Gold at $2 to play on Plus. There's still 11 other games to play immediately and 33+ yet to come.Instead of arguing about the actual service think for a moment how much content you receive for 4$ a month.
This month only:
2. You also get discounts on games, avatars, wallpapers. From 20-80% off...
3.Automatic Update gives you the choice to receive the latest PS3 system software and all your latest game updates without lifting a finger. It can enable automated Trophy sync and game saves with PlayStation®Network or deliver selected game and video content directly to your console.
4.Online Game Save, load game save data files with 1GB of storage on the PlayStation®Network and access them on other PlayStation®3 systems.
5. Full games trials -a 1-hour game rental In the past, we've had games likeRed Faction®: Guerrilla,inFamous,Mass Effect 2andBorderlands, more always come every month.
6.Exclusive & Early Access, priority access to selected betas and demos. Past titles have includedMortal Kombat,DC Universe Online, andUncharted 3: Drakes Deception.
I'm sorry, when you can tell me which gaming console or entertainment offers this much content every month, then you have the right to complain about it.
And I don't care if you don't care for the game listed, already own them or don't like what it has to offer. The point remains that it's a choice.
I Understand those gamers and consumers who state: "I don't use the extra content that PS+ offers, it's not for me". That's completely normal, however when I see article like this one where people are complaining about this much content for 4$ per month - It simply blows my mind... It's less then one overpriced McDonald's burger meal...
Either way, I have nothing else to add..

That's amazing, when did PS Vita started to get PS+ benefits?
This might be a good time to pick the handheld up, I had been holding on until price drops or better memory bundle is available.
