Freezing issues: What could be causing it?

So I bought a PS3 about 2 1/2 weeks ago, a 250 GB Slim model. I dabbled with Uncharted (1) and Infamous for a very short amount of time, but mostly I've been playing BF1943. That being said, I've been having a problem with freezing. While I'm playing BF1943 it freezes fairly often, and there seems to be no consistency to the freezing either. It actually usually does NOT happen during firefights or intense graphical moments; it even freezes on the menu while waiting to respawn sometimes.

I guess I'm just wondering is there anything that makes your PS3 more likely to freeze up, or is there anything you can do to perhaps decrease the likelihood of a freeze? No yellow light of death, but the freezing is extremely annoying. :(

Don't think you should worry. BF1943 is infamous in the freezing/crashing-department. It is probably the only game I have ever had a crash on while playing (maybe around 10 times since I bought it in July), but I don't know if this is hurting the PS3 in any way.

Well freezing problem mean that your PS3 is overheating.This is to protect the system from burning up. Which is mean the SLIM sucks. Im glad I spent $600 on the launched 60gb. That was way worth it. Have not fail on me yet since day 1. Oh and my advice to you keep it somewhere well ventilate. This will help the PS3 circulate more cool air into the system not the hot air that the system produce itself back into the system again.

The most likely problem is your downloading something like a demo at the same time, it used to happen to me a bit while playing certain games they would freeze simply because i was downloading demos. If its not that and its happening on more than 1 game other than BF1943id call sony asap as there could be a prob with your PS.

It most likely is just the game rather than the console.

I think freezing is just part of the console experience. Some people say their PS3 never freezes but I think theyre lying or just dont play long enough to know for sure.

Ive had a PS1, PS2, GB, and GBA and theyve all had their fair share of freezing. My PS3 freezes once in a while, not too often, not too rare, just enough to remind me that Im playing on a console. My PC is the only system that rarely freezes, and when it does, its because I did something.
