Oblivion Doesnt do 1080p.
Like all other PS3 games tho your tv will prob upscale it to fit the 1080p screen
Ridge Racer 7 and GT5: Prologue support 1080p Native res's if ya fancy importingfigo16v
the regular Oblivion doesn't, but the GOTY edition does.
What exactly do you mean "fit the 1080p" screen?
Every game I've been playing is in full HD. 480p and higher is HD. When 1440p televisions begin to come out then that will be full HD instead of 1080p. It's just a marketing term.Spindoc_SEI
This is somwhat true actually. I believed Sony coined the term "full HD" or "true HD" referring to 1080
But 480p isn't HD actually, it is standard but supports 16x9

Nope GOTY is 720p as well. I just checked the back of my box and put it in my system to make sure. The signal switched back to 720p on my TV screen. COD4 doesn't really count because there output is 600p which was proved by pixel counters. So no matter what your TV will upscale these games to match your highest resolution. So every game I play on my TV appears in 1080p either native or upscaled.
I must admit that I am a bit confused about the FullHD term.
Every single game that I have which is also out on the XBox has no support for FullHD on my PS3 but the it does on the XBox.
So either XBox writes fullhd on all games and they really are FullHD or they just expect that the upscaling will show it as FullHD.
I have only one PS3 game that supports 1080p - Ninja Gaiden Sigma. And one download from PSN - GT5Prologue.
I have come to the decision that when the new Starwars game comes out and it is FullHD on XBox but only 720p on PS3 I will not buy the game. I hope that more will do the same. We have to send a signal to the companies creating the games that we will not accept these stupid differences anymore. We got awesome hardware on both platforms (not a bad word about XBox even though i like PS3 more) but why the differences. Let us just enjoy the games in full no matter what type of hardware you like. I know that the game is awesome (tried the demo) but still I will feel cheated if it turns out that the XBox gets FullHD value and PS3 only gets HDReady as they call it. The price for the game is roughly the same - so why the hell should I settle for less than on the XBox.
I know that some people will think that I am stupid. But if people don't start complaining for real and stop buying the games, the companies will continue making these stupid differences.
And one last thing - stop selling your souls to Sony/Microsoft for exclusivity. It is bad for the gaming industry. Let us have good games on all platforms - the hardware in regard to gaming really doesnt matter for me. I chose a PS3 because i had a PS, PS2 and a PSP - so PS3 was a natural thing for me because I (and my son) could play the old games on the new platform. And also because of the BluRay.
Ninja Gaiden, Sony NBA games, Sony MLB games, Oblivion GOTY editionthageneral3My VT plays in 1080p. But in some areas 1080 is not the right move.

For the Xbox 720p is their full HD, for the PS3 it is 1080p. Also GTA IV and lego star wars support it?
Just to muddle the waters a little bit more. My TV supports 1080i at the top end, so when games come up that do support Full HD, what will they look like in 1080i? Or should I just use 720p? (currently I have both checked in the display settings as Resistance complained about 1080i....)-hobx-
Well "for me the same for a while." And I ran MLB The Show at 1080i checked only. Looked good if the screen did not move. Yet kinda clunky in motion.
Now is that the game? No. I could not read the ball when I batted in 1080i well. It kinda was iffy.
Then I clicked both 720p and 1080i setting on the PS3 "and it did not matter if my TV was at one or the other. It seemed to convert. After that I could see the ball fine. And to the naked eye, the graphics may have been a tad more blurred then from 1080i, but much easier in motion. I could see the ball fine.
Its a combo of so many things, and you just learn more as you go on. And im sure when I try higher refresh rates and stuff on newer TVs, Ill see how things differ then. But then again, every game displays different so? Like I said, its a combo of so many things.
Oh and to contrast that. I did try the game at full low SD once. Looked bad. Yet at the middle ground of 720p, it looks HDish lol yet smooth.
Yet another contrast to all this is. Ive seen games that are displaying in the 600 range look fantastic. So maybe to much is tried at to high now? I dont know thier? Thats up to the developers to decide where they can show the most.

Oh dear God, please educate yourself before spouting utter BS like that. The 360 is more than capable of outputting 1080p and it has done it with certain titles like Virtua Tennis 3, same thing applied to the PS3 version.
