FW 2.4 ingame XMB anti-climax

Well after all the sepculation, rumors and energy that when into waiting for the legendargy "in game XMB" feature it arrived today..

Very quick install, although I had to turn off the power on my PS3 at the wall to get out of a "Hardrive changed" error message, my fault probably I get it during upgraded due I assume to my 320gb hardrive. .

Only game that seems to use Trophes at the moment is Super Stardust.. Doesn't seem to be a killer feature, I guess it might be handly to see what games my friends are into once more games implement them. I'd almost look forward to playing Obivion and Shiviring Isles though again to get all the titles .

As for the in game XMB.. I could almost so "so what".. Could it be that we've been taken for a ride byt he 360 crowd when we beleived them this was such a "can't live wihtout feature"?. Compared with features like AVI video playback and UPNP streaming this seems mundane!.

I smell flamebait again. Please return to the System Wars forum with comments like that. The TC was not starting a comparison between the two consoles, but was instead hypothesizing on the concept that maybe in-game XMB isn't a "deal-breaking" feature.

On topic, I've already attained 9 of the trophies in SSHD. I think it's fun to collect them and I can't wait for the first full game to support them so I can get to work. Hopefully, Kojima and Co will come out with an update in the next few days/weeks. You could easily link the Emblems with the trophy system for quick integration.

Even though the 360's dashboard is riddled with ads and pisses me off......I have to agree....It is better. Atleast everything on the Xbox 360 dashboard works.

But that's just it, Sony unfortunately didn't 'imitate' the 360's Dashboard, they copied their own PSP XMB and so it looks too vacant.

HAHA! wrong! the XMB type media bar was originaly seen on the PSX, which wasn't released outside of Japan... the PSP, and the Ps3, now use this "superior" menu system.

i have to say tho the xbox dashboard looks nice but isnt very practical... everything on the PS3 XMB is easy to get to and clean... and its sleek and looks nice while doing tht..

the update just came out... i suspect itll get better as more updates come out later...

and i dont think sony "tried to immitate" the xbox dashboard... they are completely different... and sony has been using XMB in some of their multimedia devices in their early HD TVs (which was b4 360) and even the PSP.... so they didnt copy....

but i must admit the ingame dashboard works alot better for xbox, but im sure it didnt when it first came out... so im giving sony some more time (haha probably like 2 more updates) before i pass my judgement, plus when more developers release pathes to implement the trophies and the ingame music itll be more interesting =D

Yes i do own a Xbox 360. And yes it does take just a few seconds for things to load up, But at least i dont have to wait 2 years for it to arrive and then be dissapointed when it does.

anyone else have problems with this update? whenever im at the main XMB the trophys,Playlists,internet search all display "?" is it normal or a bug? when im using the in-game XMB the trophys and the other icons display fine, it's something that's pissing me off...

EDIT: never mind i was using the MGS4 theme which doesn't have any icons for the trophies to be displayed so that's why it was displaying "?"

Anyone know if I can download 2.4 on my computer from anywhere yet? bleehum

This was bound to happen. 2.4 had too much hype, fueled by speculation and misinformation. No one will take the time to check to see what games have trophy support so everyone is whiney when most games don't work. They expect In-Game XMB to allow them to do anything they want while still playing a game even though the features were already announced. Typical.

XMB is not what 360 has. You can still do a lot more from the 360 in game dashboard than you can with the xmb so don't believe sony has delivered the same experience. Sony's ingame xmb is a so what until they bring it up to speed with what 360 has it will ramain a meh..

The in-game XMB lacks many of the features that gamers, particularly those spoiled on the 360's feature set, wanted most. And I didn't see you guys talking about how great Acheivements were when they were and Xbox-only feature.
