There is a lot more to it and its a good game but it was a stupid decision to give it game of the year.
So it did win Game of the Year! I mean like I said I only played the demo, and from what it seems there could be a combination of maybe 8 different combinations of attacks/moves because remembering more than that would be a headache... but how can that game have any length with out being just the most repetitive game ever made
I would like to know what they look for in a game to become game of the year.... especially after that game won? Maybe they just paid off the judgesOMG_iTz_Evo
Could it be possible that you're just not into that type of game? I mean Patapon appeals to the vast majority of psp users, but just because you don't like it or me, doesn't mean it's a horrible game.
GoW:CoO is the overrated game. It was fun, for the very short amount of time that it lasted. I realize that Patapon i not a game for everyone's taste, but it's a great combination of rhythm and strategy, and certainly lasted much long than GoW. I don't think either deserved GOTY.
Just checked. On GS N+, Patapon, Pinball Hall of Fame - The Williams Collection, God of War: Chains of Olympus, and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII were all nominees. God of War: Chains of Olympus won Readers Choice with 42%. Patapon only got 15%. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII won Editors Choice.
Patapon is good, but IGN shouldn't have given it PSP Game of the Year. I've only played the demo of God of War: Chains of Olympus, and from the demo, it doesn't seem like Game of the Year material either. Nor does Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII.
With so few games released last year for PSP, and even fewer great games, I thought that perhaps no one should have given a GOTY. Not enough competition.

I agree, Patapon 1 was so addictive, I spend more than 70 hours on "IT" and "IT" was the first game I completed. cant believe you spent that much time on such a crappy game
God of War was the most fun in my opinion, but Crisis Core really stumped it in terms of production values, sidequests, and length. That's why I think CC deserved to win game of the year.
