Well I thought I would give Gamefly another chance after being disappointed a few years ago. Since my gaming time is so limited, it takes me a long time to beat a game. Like a month at minimum. Last year, I bought all these PS3 games at full retail, and they are still factory sealed waiting to be played.

I figured Gamefly would satisfied my craving to briefly experience the new releases while I slowly beat the older games. Working on Ratchet right now. What a waste of money! Their shipping and turn around time is horrible. For $25 bucks, I got to play a total of 3 games. It takes 2 weeks for them to receive and send me a new game. And forget playing new releases. I had Turok on the top of my queue list. They mailed me Burnout instead which was 12 on my queue list. Why bother with them if you have to wait 3 months before getting to play a game?

Forget renting, I am back to owning again.

Just buy a game pass at blockbuster or hollywood video. Some blockbusters I know still give you an extra week to return games as well as movies.

I like it. It usually only takes about a week for me to get games here, and if I keep something on the top of my q it usually is the first to ship out.

I didnt like the insane amount of time it took for them to get new releases. It took like a month before Bioshock even got to short wait. I just bought the damn game.

I got that ring 3 game the Wednesday after it came out, got Bioshock within 3 days, just got bully scholarship two days ago, got UT3 within 3 days. I get most games, if they come out on Tuesday, buy Friday or Sat. I live in IL. so I'm not by any shipping center. I get mine from PA.

If you work the sysytem then you get the new games. It's the only reason I use them. Plus if you buy a game from them it's already $10 cheaper than the store. If you have $5 credit and save %5 or %10 depending on you time with them that $60 game costs like $40-$45. I buy all my new games through GF.

Just gotta make sure that if you want a game that IS'T out yet you had better NOT have a game in your queue at all that is out and available. No matter where it is in you list, if it's available, it's going to come first. This is what mine looks like through August. Until something else gets announced or changed. If you want used games you check out the link to Goozex in my sig.

They've gotten worse lately. But still a great deal. The biggest mistake i make is sitting on games I haven't touched in over a week. I really should upgrade to 3 at a time to not have to worry about having a game to play at all times.

Man, I just started a Gamefly account when I bought my PS3 a couple weeks ago. I've had a GREAT experience so far. Then again, I'm not renting the "new" games from them, as I'm just trying to get accquainted with Playstation 3's older library first. :)

Seriously though, I live in Des Moines, Iowa... and my shipping center is Los Angeles, and it's still never taken me more than three days to receive my next game.

i haven't had that many problems with them. I've been with them since December 07. it takes about 3 total days for them to receive a game and ship it. the only problem i had so far is they sent me the wrong game. I had Rainbow Six Vegas and Burnout Paradise on my top 2 queue list but they sent me GTA VCS instead of Burnout which was 3rd on my list. it didnt bother me too much because i went ahead and bought Burnout with no regrets

You are quite luckly. I mailed my games back 8 days ago. Finally got an email that they received them. Still no notice of any new games shipped to me.

So for $24 bucks a month I can play an average of 4 games, and that is only if I ship them back immediately.

Since not a lot of people live close to me let me tell you how it is done :)

1) You rent at Blockbuster - $7.99 - 5 days

2) You get 7 day grace period so now a total of 12 days

3) If you keep it for an ADDITIONAL 30 days, but return it before the 30 days are up you only pay an additional $1.25 so total of $9.24 for up to 42 days...

Note that they will charge you $60 for the game once the grace period is out, but you get it refunded. Also check that this applies to your local blockbuster....

The original poster was exagerrating quite a bit, it will never take two weeks to get another game, unless it's a rare occasion that there's a shipping problem. And why is he complaining when he paid $25 to play 3 games? It would cost him $180+ to buy them. Gamefly is a great service to play a lot of games for a small price.

On the contrary, I'm pretty sure you won't get much satisfaction with trying to beat 3 PS3 games in a month..especially if you want to play them again for replay value or online purposes.

I was all but ready to join Gamefly, myself, but I did a little more research and heard stories like this, and it just did not seem worth it to me. I am just going to stick with buying games that interest me and renting on occasion at Blockbuster.

Just relying my experience. If you don't live on the West or East coast, you are looking at 10 - 14 days to send the game back and get another one. Yea, I got to play 4 games, but briefly, basically just demoing them out.

THe thing that really irked me is they would only send the crap titles at the bottom of my queue. No Devil May Cry or Turok. They sent me Burnout Paradise, and I was instantly bored with this game.

i think the reason it sucked was because, lets see i payed 14 dollars a month or more. and in a month, lets say i ordered a game, it takes a week to get here, then i play for it for like a week, then i give it back the next week, and i cant rent another game for that week i sent it back because it hasnt been called back in yet, then the next time i can order another game is the week after that which takes a week to get there. so im paying like...14+ dollars a month for a weeks rental

I use gamefly and get all the new games I want. You just don't know how to work the system. It's a boon for me. I don't even buy any games anymore. I spend $60 every two months, and play all the new games no problem.

I can vouch for the pisspoor service in some regions - maybe some ppl get their games in 2 days but in my experience it took a week to get mine (usually the last one in my queue) , and then once I sent them off it would be a week before I got email acknowledgement that they received it , 2-3 more business days before they notified me the new one was sent, and then it would arrive a week later. So basically paying for a month but playing a game for a week & half. Theres no excuse for all that delay .... if Netflix can get me a movie 2 days after I order it why does it take GF 2 weeks?

I did buy a coupla used games from them and I have to say those were good deals; the disks had no scratches or wear, manual/case were pristine condition.

I prefer owning a copy but @ $60 a pop it's a lot harder than last gen so I have to watch games in advance and check reviews. Gamefly has good prices on used games

I'm a big video game rental person myself. My local blockbuster and hollywood video charge about 9.00 for next gen rentals. So, lets say you rent 4 games a month, thats 36.00 bucks. I think I'd prefer the 24.00 bucks myself.

You can't honestly expect to get the game at the top of your queue every single time you return a game to them. I'm not sure how many members gamefly has, but i'm sure its more than the supply of games that they have. Just think of it like your local blockbuster. If a movie comes out on wednesday and you go their friday evening, chances are they won't have that new release in stock. They only order so many copies of a particular game. So, yes, you might run into instances where they don't have a game in when you return a game.

Just buy a game pass at blockbuster or hollywood video. Some blockbusters I know still give you an extra week to return games as well as movies.

I will never use Game-Fly again and the Game-Passes from Blockbuster are just as bad if not worse! I had quit Game Fly and after a few months I had decided, WTH I'll give it another try. I own all three systems and it was going to get expensive fast buy games for all three! The first thing I did was rent a game for the Wii, for the kids couldn't even tell you what it was, maybe money ball or something and Heavenly Sword for my PS3!

Monkey Ball showed up a week and a half later and Heavenly sword never made it! I figured I'd give it another day or two, but alas it was lost! I was fed up... I cancelled the sevice by the end of the month so I wouldn't get charged the 25 bucks and filed a complaint that the charge should be pro-rated since I only got 1 on the games. Never got an answer, but come to find they got there lost game back. Got an email back.. you know the notifier emails that tell you whats out and whats shipped and it said that Heavenly sword was returned... blah blah blah!

I hope they go bankrupt cause they simply suck... *Simply My Two Cents*

I'm currently on my third Gamefly sub. I tend to try them for 2-3 months, cancel and then try again 18-24 months later. I restarted my sub because I also had been buying games and never playing them. Problem is now that I have Gamefly, I'm busy playing my owned games and not playing the rented. I'm thinking about doing something like play an owned game and then a rented and so on.

The worst thing is I bought Bully for 360 last week. I really wanted to play the game and didn't feel like waiting weeks/months before Gamefly would send it to me. I'll just sell the game on eBay as soon as I'm done. I also plan on getting Rainbow Six for sure this week. I'm even thinking about buying Hot Shots Golf.

If Gamefly had better turnaround and stock of games, I would buy very few games.

I've been a gamefly user since September 2003 and it has never taken anywhere near two weeks for them to receive a game and another two weeks to mail another one I think the TC is guilty of major exaggerating... When I first signed up for GF they only had one shipping center in L.A. California so at first it took 3 to 5 days for them to receive AND mail the next game and I live on the east coast... Now they have two other shipping centers in Pittsburgh, PA and Tampa, FL so now the turnaround time is 2-3 days unless the only games you have on your mail list are new games that are in extreme demand.

Owning games rocks. No renting for me.
