Hey I got the PS3 slim back at the end of Aug. I was wondering why my games looks bad on PS3. For example I can see all the edges and it just makes it look very bad. I tried playing around with the gamma and brighness and it looks a bit better. Anyone else having this issue? My TV is 1080p. The HDMI I bought it pretty cheap but i researched on the internet and came to the conclusion that all hdmi cables are the same. Before I had a PS3 someone also was saying that GTA4 looked very bad on their PS3. Anyone else has/had this issue and can shed some light on it? metalkid9
All the edges? All i could think is that you might have to adjust the sharpness on your TV.
Seems like issues with your tv. Try messing around with the settings on it, and then try the visual settings on the game itself. I haven't seen bad graphics on a PS3 game yet.

ya my bad I meant sharpness. It helped a bit but it's still noticable. Especially when I was playing the BC2 beta. but ya the edges are squarish. Anyone had this issue? How far are you from the TV? (this happens to me)
The first time i played in HD was with Dead Space, i normally seated in front of the monitor and playing i thought it looked bad. Once i moved a little back, everything was awesome.
If im using the monitor for the PC, it looks good no matter the distance from it, but while playing with the PS3 i have to seat further back. (too close thinsg look like grains)
... if its not this, then maybe something with the TV / monitor per se...
----------EDIT---------------
Other thing, i used to have only the 1080p option in my PS3, and Resident Evil 5 looked all blurry and stuff.... once i used the 720p and 1080p options (so it uses the natural one) the game looked waaaay better.
since my room is tiny it's around 6 feet away. Update: I'm updating the system at the moment. It didn't let me play games so I had to. I think it's almost done. How far are you from the TV? (this happens to me)

I don't see anything at 2:17. Are you talking about those invisible squares?Pvt_r3dResume at 2:17 and then wait for the rock to fall on him. Then after that look at the bottom of the train (which would also be on the bottom of the sceen. The bottom of it are a bunch of rail looking things and it's noticeable there. If you got the game it's easier to recognize it on your TV. But I'm not sure if it looks the same so that's why I'm asking to see if there is something wrong with my stuff.
Aliasing? You're complaining about aliasing? Dude, its a video game! There's not a console out yet that can run enough antt-aliasing to clean up a game as huge as Uncharted 2. That game is so completely flawless in comparison to everything else its totally ridiculous. If a little aliasing is that big a deal that it ruins a game like Uncharted 2 for ya you should probably just stick to watching blu-rays. Its not your TV or the PS3 that's the problem... Its your incredibly high standards for the already incredibly high standard gaming console! :P Just sit back and enjoy the game, bro. TheEldestGodYa I guess I'm being too picky. Although I never said it looks bad. I do think it looks gorgeous. And it's not only this game but almost all games. But still, I HATE EDGY LINES :P

Yeah I get that a lot too, especially for MGS4 but it doesn't really bother me much since it happens rarely.

Something like the Blue Ray posted above will probably help you out tremendously if you take the time. I'm sure somebody will disagree but I bought it off Amazon for $15 and after a few hours of adjusting settings I am more than satisfied and will be using it on any TV I buy in the future.
Before I used it I would see like a white outline around edges and some jaggies but this solved my problem more than I would have ever believed. Or you could pay $200+ to have your set professionally calibrated.

Just asking because I usually only see PC gamers complain about AA, they are spoiled with their high powered machines. :P though if you have issues with U2's graphics I don't think there is a game you'll find on a console that will make you happy. most games don't look nearly as good as Uncharted 2.

Its a hard subject without a better example to help fix. GTA4 looks better on the PS3 than the 360, but being a open world game it will not be a amazing looking game but not bad by any means.wooooodeYeah, Skate 2 doesn't look great, but R&C ACiT does, and it's an open world!
TC I agree with you, I too noticed that PS3 games have that crummy type of look. which is borderline bad. And no it's not my TV, I use HDMI on a 42" Samsung Plasma. Try Uncharted 2 demo and see if you notice any difference though.gamer082009Mine's a 37 in but looks better than my friend's 46in!
Yeah, it is aliasing. Pretty much every Ps3 game has it. The Bad Company 2 Beta runs off the Frostbite engine which uses no Anti Aliasing on the consoles. It's just something you have to get used to. But, it's one of the reasons I'm building a pc :P

maybe off the topic a bit, but I noticed the behind scenes videos look pretty "squarish" in Uncharted 2, not bluray quality at all. I don't know if anyone else noticed that.
If you believe that your games look bad on your PS3 I believe you might have two problems:
- You're staring at your HDTV from 2 feet away...
- You don't have proper High Definition cable hook-up, be it HDMI or HD cables..
Otherwise, this generation PlayStation 3 offers some of the most gorgeous graphics on consoles. ;)
