Demo my ass.
Prologue features 70 cars, online play, incredible interior views, stunning visuals, promised updates, it's budget priced at $40, not to mention it's the best damn sim racer around. While it may be short on content when compared to other Gran Turismo games (duh, Prologue), it features more content then some full priced racers.
Obviously it is short on tracks, but the tracks that are there are very good. When you look at all of the positives and compare them to the negatives (keeping in mind it's budget price), it's a great value in my opinion.
Quality over quantity, any day. Besides, again, it's budge priced. Don't forget that.
In the end, if you're a Gran Turismo fan, a fan of sim racers, or you're looking to check out sim racing for the first time, this is an excellent buy.
As for the review, meh. Gamespot has been underrating games left and right lately (not just PS3), so this comes as no surprise. While I respect everyone's opinion, that doesn't mean I agree with them.
Still alot of money for a damn demo, yes I said DEMO, of a game that they are still making. I can't believe fanboys actually buy this crap. They are giving you an UNFINISHED VERSION of the game and making you pay for it. Imagine if they did that with a GTA game. What if they just finished half the city and half the missions, then stripped out all the extra features and sold it for 40 bucks and told you to wait for the proper version later on for 60 more bucks.Lobster_Ear
You see. Thats where you got it wrong. No fanboy is buying this, unless you were refering to the GT fanboys as myself.
Why dont you go and check the number of GT4P units sold. Quite amazing isnt it?
Still doesn't change the fact that it's a stripped down version of a game that's coming out next year. And I wouldn't call 40 bucks a "budget price" in this situation. You'll going to end up paying 100 bucks for it all together. The lesser game, then the proper game. What's the point? The only way I would consider it a good deal is if it came with a $30 or $40 discount slip for the REAL GT5.Demo my ass.

And that doesn't change the fact that the game is priced accordingly. The game isn't a full featured Gran Turismo, hence the cutting of the price.
You don't think it's a good value, then don't buy it. No harm. I personally feel it's a great game for the money, so I bought it. No harm there, either.

That's cool if it doesn't bother you. It just gets me mad that they are trying to profit off of a segment of their unfinished game, but whatever. same here dude, keep up the good work nyc05I'm still confused about one thing. Why does anybody care about what strangers have to say about anything? It's a 7.5. It's a demo. It's a 10. It's the best game in the history of racing games. Who cares what anybody has to say?
I bought the game as soon as I could because it runs at 1080 and is by far the best racing simulator out there right now. And I have both PGR 4 and Forza. So do what you want and let everybody else feel their opinion is important.

GT5P... 7.5, ok they have just sinned this time. Whats next MSG4=7.5? Carl0009
nah gamespot will give MGS4 a 6.0
"Only a prologue to the real thing"
This is what they use as a bad thing about the game. Well no **** gamespot, it wouldn't be called GRAN TURISMO 5 PROLOGUE for nothing.

I am going to tell you how i fell about the gamespot loveof ps3 titles. Gamestop has wonderful reviews! I cannot believe how fairthey are! i swear if they didn't have their heads up their goodness they might realise just how professional they are! boy i tell you what a bunch of wonderful people
this has been screened by a gamespot mod for your own safty......ha-iel xbox
I don't pay attention to Gamespot reviews as they are basted on one or two people who review them. Isn't Polyphony going to later on give us downloads of the real game to add on to the Prologue, like more cars, tracks and whatnot? Either way, I don't count on other people's reviews to buy games that I know and like.
see i dont get how you can take away points from a games review for "feeling like half a game".. or "feeling Unfinished" or "not enough content".. when the game is called Prolouge and is and UNFINISHED PREVEIW of the REAL THING.. Jes*s Chr*st.. i swear sometimes the reviewers from gamespot can be such R-tards..
but the same can be said for the developers.. why not just release GT 5 already.. the HD concept was good enough.. just release the entire game and stop tring to milk Sh*t with some "prolouge"..
both parties deserve a well placed kick in the dice..

Yo pienso que el juego se merecia más bien un 8.5... Uhhhh.... I believe the game if it was reviewed in the right perspective, as a prologue, would of scored an 8.5 n_n
Since when did GameSpot reviews tell us what games to buy or not to buy? Never.
What they do tell us is a review from an editor who works at GameSpot, who plays games, reviews games, tests games possibly sleeps with games in his or her perspective.
So are you going to believe every word GameSpot says in a review just because it's their job? Or are you going to judge for yourself games you believe are worth playing, after all only by reading other reviews will you feel a game might suck.

Wow, that is super funny... NOT!Yeah dont cry bud its a simple joke.
Everyone are entitles to their own opinion. I personally don't agree with Luke Anderson Gamepot review, but I do respect it.
It doesn't matter what the outcome of the game review is, if a person enjoys the game it won't make an impact. I don't agree with Demo part, and will never do so. For 40$ the game offers great value for my money spent.
No racing simulator comes close in this new age of racing to Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, those, like myself, who enjoy racing Sims are having a great time.
The game offers 16 player multiplayer, over 60+ cars, 6 revisable track, outstanding visuals that no car racer rivals, completely new and updated car psychics, brand new and superb dash-board.
It offers a lot for the price, and it certainly isn't a demo.
It's worth every penny for car enthusiast and fellow gamers who enjoy real driving simulator, to truly appreciate that, you need to be one.
Still alot of money for a damn demo, yes I said DEMO, of a game that they are still making. I can't believe fanboys actually buy this crap. You can cut with the cliche':
"If you buy this, you art fanboy" crap please. :)

I don't care...it's a car game. And we all know how innovative car games can get. :|
I just think it's strange that they release a prologue for sale. It's like they need the funds to finish the full version. Why don't other company's do this? MGS4 wants to sell a million on day one, why not take some of the pressure off by having released an unfinshed version back in November for $40? Why not give us what's ready from RFoM2 for $40? Just don't ruin the story but give a taste of the gameplay.
I guess it's a bit easier with a racer since there's no story and they can make a few tracks and several cars and all they have to do is continue to make more cars and tracks for the final release. But why not sell us NBA 2K9 with 8 teams we can play?
