Gamestop sold me a broken PS3

Yes, i bought a used PS3 from gamestop a few weeks ago with a brand new copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops, the game ran fine except for the ground/walls/sky flashing green and blue. I thought it was the game so i brought it back and got a new copy..the problem still presisted. Now i just bought a new copy of the following games, Borderlands, Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Assassins Creed 2. The problems i am havaing with borderlands is that the game will freeze every 5-30 minutes of gameplay..The whole console will then lock up but the music still plays and i cannot access the Home menu or turn off my console unless i flip the switch in the back. Assassins creed 2 has a different problem, lines of distortion will appear out of Ezio and other characters and the only way to get them to dissaper is by restarting the console..but they allways reappear after every cutscene..Now im am starting to think there is a problem with the video card of my PS3 and I was wondering if gamestop will let me trade this PS3 in for one of the same model that works (this is the Second PS3 i bought from them that has had major issues, the first PS3 didnt even read Blue Ray Discs which is what the PS3 games are). So is there any hope for me or will i have to shell out another $250?

Also I would like to state that I did not get a warrenty because I thought this console would run fine..which it did not.

A used system shouldhave a warrenty take it back. Never buy a used system.

If you're gonna dish out money on a system, you should just buy a new one. Don't buy used. You're gonna have to take it up with Gamestop and see what they can do for you. If they can't do anything try taking it to Sony directly. If they can't help you then you're screwed and you shouldn't have bought a used PS3 without a Warranty. Always get the Warranty.

I would just say screw you and take it back. How much did you pay for it and did they replace the one with faulty disc drive the first time?

Alwayz buy warranty for electronic if theyre known even for 0.1 % failure.

got a fatty broke twice already but got a 3 year warranty for slim only 59.99 for 3 years and probably extent it to another 3, by that time ps4 will be out. I would hate to buy another one when i know ps4 comming out.

Thanks for your opinions all..I got the 40GB Fat model for $229..this time I will buy a warrenty if they let me trade it in (the last one I bought was Refurbished not used and they let me trade it in for the one I have currently).

Return it to Gamestop. Here's some friendly advice for you, be very careful when buying a used console and always get the warranty!

You should return it. There's going to be a price drop for the 160GB model. It will be $249.99. I highly recommend saving up for that instead.

No lie on this, I went there to sell my PS3 controller, they offered me $10, and told me they would list it for $50, I could sell it on ebay for $30 easy. I went there to buy Battlefield BC2, They had it listed for 59.99 USED, I bought it from target "on sale" for $35 -- normal price at the time was $49.99, so still cheaper, I mean cmon brand new for $35 or used for 60 ?!?! Gamestop is a rip-off don't give them your business seriously.Deadlytalon

Also the Gamestop i go to has aweome people employed..They are all hardcore gamers as well the store allways having awesome deals.

Gamestop has never sold Battlefield BC2 used at $60. They sell new games used for $54.99. Of course you could make more money selling your stuff off of Ebay because you are doing all the work on selling it. You obviously don't understand the concept of a middleman. When you use a middleman they get in on some of your money. I would do the same if you came to me and asked me to sell your stuff. Something has to be in if for me as well. So many people just don't understand how you have to run a successful business.

I will agree that Gamestop does tkae it prices and trade in values are a little to stingy, but the market ultimately determines the prices that they will charge. So many people are willing to trade in a game for $20 and turn around and buy a used game for $54.99. The reason why so many people choose to do this is because of convenience.

I would never buy a used console. When I was trying to fix my own PS3 when it YLOD every forum I read was full of people saying, "This fix worked! I hope it holds out long enough for me to sell it to Gamestop and get some store credit!"

Advice: Do not ever get a used console.

both my ps3 and psp are used from ebay and they work fine.

Should anyone buy a used console?
