Gaming life on ps4 controller rather short ?

I have only one ps4 controller, and the charger life on it seems rather short compared to the ps3 controller ? anyone else find this ? does the headset being plugged into the controller effect the charge span ?

I think on average i probably get about 6 hours of charge on my controller while the ps3 controller was a good 10 hours, which did detoriate with time.

Yeah, sounds about right. The DS4 appears to use a cheaper, lower capacity battery than the DS3. I've heard that some have taken to using DS3 batteries in their DS4's to almost double their DS4 battery life.

The ps4 controller uses more power due to the light, speakers and touchpad features so im not surprised it lasts less.

Mine last a good amount of time. I mean unless you gaming all day. I also play while connecting my controller to a usb that is connected to a extension cable into the wall. Charge and Play for the win!

This, plus I never really fully charge it so it dies more often. Ah well.

Yeah mine doesn't last long... especially my blue one for some reason. Lucky to get 4-5 hours out of it.

Mine usually lasts 8 hours and that's playing COD or BF4. Turn off your vibration, it's helped extend my battery life significantly.

Plus if your into shooter games, it's best to turn rumble off anyways so it doesn't throw your aim off.

Lasts less than 10 hours for me. Remember in the pre release FAQ where Sony said the battery life was similar to Dualshock 3? Yeah... flat out lie.

Dualshock 3 lasts me like 30 hours with vibration off, 20-25 with it on depending on how much the feature is used in the games I play.

Lasts long enough for my gaming needs, I haven't had it die on me once in the middle of a gaming session yet. What I do is charge my second controller that's not being used whilst I continue to game with my first controller, so when the battery gets low with the one I'm using I just swap them around That way you'll never have to worry about them never being charged.

Who is the fucking dickhead at Sony that thought that useless light was a good idea? Probably the same moron that thought a speaker in the controller was also a necessity.

For comparison both of my ds3s now last for about 10 hours.(used to be around 30 when i first got them)

Haven't had any issues with it personally. Kids were using it and according to the system the battery was dead. Thought tahat was off.

Mine don't last long, I charge way more than on ps3. I'll try turning the rumble off though, that might help a lot

I think the battery life is alright, since it has the light and speakers on the controller. The easiest thing to do IMO is to have 2 controllers. Use one till it dies. Put the dead controller for charger while you game on your other fully charged controller. From there it's a never ending cycle of never not having a controller to play on and always being wireless.

I like the speaker, but that light is stupid because it glares back at you from the tv!

@hitmanactual: lmao, initially the PS4 was going to ship with the camera. The camera would track the light on the controller to tell where the gamer is sitting and who is who if more than one player was playing. It would also automatically switch screens to correspond to where you were sitting.

Since the PS4 shipped without the camera there should be an option to turn off the light, sadly doesn't look like there is. The speaker in the controller is alright, it works for some games

The PS4's DS4 has horrible life compared to the DS3.

DS4 : 4-6 hours

DS3 : 25-30 hours.

SONY fucked up big time with the DS4

i personally never used up all of the battery of ds4 in one sitting, it took me at least two or three sessions to drain it, which i did because i have a second one, but if i had only one controller i would have charged it in-between sessions, so it does not bother me one bit... :D
