Yes, it will... The release date is near the date when God of War will be available for XBox, and Halo for the Wii.hermes200
lol that's a good one
It won't, but it should. Who knows? Maybe Microsoft will have to start playing nice now that they'll probably have to develop a BR player for their machine. They can't do that without Sony's permission right? My God, what am I saying? Microsoft play nice? They'd buy all the air if they could figure it out.The_G00se
they dont need sonys permission for a bluray player. This thread reaks of fanboy ignorance.
who cares its a boring game the only thing it has is good gore. yet ut3 has teh same so doesnt matter would never buy itBoobyUnger

psst say GeOW...for a sec i thought u said GOW wasnt good which is one of the best games in it's genre =(Microsoft have bought ahem bribed the rights to the first two GoW games. So, if Epic make a third one, it is possible it'll come to PS3.dmalone569
Yeah, maybe the third one.....Epic has two game exclusive contract with Microsoft. Therefore if there's any possibilty that a Gears of War game will be on the PS3, it probably won't be until the third one.
Come on guys let the Gears 2 go. Congrats to the 360 owners that'll be able to play the game. But please don't forget that the PS3 has some great titles coming out as well.

you forget, people on the forum just like to find stuff to complain about. It would be convenient but i mean each console needs its own exclusive to thrive. I will probably have a 360 by the time this comes out so i mean it won't make a difference either way.
Also i might add GTA IV wasn't the only exclusive stolen away from the PS3 considering AC(which i think it was originally PS3 exclusive) and DMC4. Although GTA 3 and up were kinda timed Exclusives considering they did get ports to the xbox. But the past is the past and more people can experience good if not great games for less hastle.

part of the advantage of owning both systems but on another note where is some info about the killer ps3 apps?
nah...ac wasnt really an exclusive ever...just rumors came out taht it was because sony showed it at one of the game shows and everyone went along with the rumors -_-It would be convenient but i mean each console needs its own exclusive to thrive. Yes, actually they do. They need a license since Sony owns the trademark. For each Blu-Ray disc player and each Blu-Ray Disc manufactured, the company releasing that machine or movie has to pay a royalty to Sony. So you think that if a company invents a new technology that any other company can use it for free?? Pfffftttt....no freakin way. Any game developer that uses the Unreal Engine III has to pay Epic for a license, any that use the Source Engine must pay Valve, and so on, and so forth.

As much as I would like to play Gears of War, Bioshock and Lost Oddisey; I can't have both consoles, so I decided that I prefer God of War and Final Fantasy over those games (I just wish they were here already). I don't regret my decision, and I don't curse those who choose otherwise.Come on guys let the Gears 2 go. Congrats to the 360 owners that'll be able to play the game. Do you think ANY movie studio would be willing to support a technology that forces them to pay royalties to the competition?

Read this article and you'll see what I'm talkng about http://crave.cnet.com/8301-1_105-9874317-1.html?tag=cnetfd.mt
The practice of making royalties for technology has been going on for decades, even with the CD and DVD

Sony had only a timely exclusitivy with RockStar for GTA IV, the publisher would be able to relaese the game on Xbox/360 after a year it was released on their console. But not this time around. But GTA IV was never a Sony exclusive. Same goes with DMC since DMC 3.

Do you mean GTA3 in ur 1st sentence... Well before it was announced people kinda figured it was a PS3 exclusive considering the past even if it would be only a Timed exclusive. I don't know about DMC considering i was only going off of past articles since i'm not a big DMC fan.
Paul, is not only right here, but I can add that, Microsoft will have to buy the brevets from Sony as well if they want to be able to use the BD technology at all, just like Toshiba, Pionneer or any other manufacturer does. And given that, Sony could decide to never sell the rights of BD to Microsoft (but that would be highly doubtful, since it'd be a good source of income).

I agree. PS3 only owners can still enjoy resistance 2, killzone 2, mgs4, etc. Gears 2 will be great but you guys have other games you can play.
Gears of War isn't even that great of a game, so who cares? It is alot fun and, gotta give credit where credit is due, the system for ducking behind walls etc is pretty good, though not nearly as innovative as 360 users would like to think. Other than though, it is a very short with very boring weapons (chainsaw gun? please...it is cool like the first two times and besides that half the time it barely works). The story was hardly developed, though I will say in their defense it was intriguing; I expect they will develop it alot more in the second one. In my opinion, and I am trying to be as unbiased as possible, Resistance is the better game - better story, better weapons, and better graphics. I can hear people moaning about me saying better graphics already. The graphics of the two games are both great, but they are also two different styles of graphics. I just happen to prefer the style that Resistance used. Only thing that Gears might have on Resistance is the multiplayer, but I wouldn't know because I didn't get to play multiplayer on that, I am just basing that comment on what I heard. Even with that though, Resistance has great multiplayer.
In other words, be happy with what you have because you aren't missing out on much.

I really hope you aren't being serious. I played Gears of War, it is good, I will buy Gears of War 2 when it comes out too probably as there is a 360 at my parent's house. That doesn't mean I am dying to have it so much that I desperately need it to come out for PS3 where I will be able to play it at all hours of the day. It really is not that great of a game. I'm not saying it's not good, because it is, but it is far from as great as some 360 users make it out to be. Also, no where in my original post do I even give the impression of anger, so you have to be kidding.

you two are both a little over the edge.. gears is a must play game. imo it was the first true next gen console game and it was great.. best game ever... well, not mine, but i guess that's subjective.. Cover system was GREAT!! and the graphics were far more advanced than resistance (but how will Resistance 2 look??... probably fantastic.)

I agree. The fanboy up there will be missing A LOT if he doesn't get a 360 soon.

How am I over the edge? The graphics are great (for instance, the part where you are on the train and you look out the windows, the scenery there is amazing), but it is a different style than Resistance, which also has impressive graphics and its own great moments. Personally (and I said this was a matter of opinion), I prefer Resistance's grittier style. As for the cover system, I addressed that and we agree that it was great. However, you conveniently only discuss the two aspects of the game that are by far its best. You fail to discuss the horrible, boring weapons (a HUGE part of the game since it is a shooter), poorly developed story, and way too short gameplay. Those three things prevent me from labeling it a great game that has me salivating at the thought of a sequel. I just don't understand why everyone thinks its so great. Well, yeah, I do, it's because everyone wants Sony to fail miserably and 360 to succeed (the whole underdog thing I guess) so they jump on everything 360 does without thought or consideration.
AGAIN! NOT SAYING GEARS OF WAR IS A BAD GAME, FAR FROM IT, BUT ALSO FAR FROM BEING GREAT!!!
