So, what's the concensus on the best bet? If you could only get one game, would you get GTAIV right now, or wait a couple weeks and get MGS4?

no matter how good mgs4 is ..im not buying it, just renting...dont get me wrong tho, im a big mgs fan..its just i almost never buy games that only have single player...i know it comes with MGO, but i played the beta and i must admit...didnt love itGamerboi27
Give it time, I know you will love it. ITs great once you really know how to play and how to trick other people. Pretending to be dead and people walking right by you is probably the best thing that has happened to me in a online game in a long time. You will later love MGO, just give it time and play it tactacaly with small numbe4rs of people. Also, it looks like MGS4 will have many cool weapons to get after you finish the game.

i was in the beta too and i got to say i must have only spent lik 20 mintues and never touched it again, everyone was just knife killing the guns were practically useless against knifes which is kind of weird.
i got to say this about mgo its defiently unusual its not realistic its not really arcady either it some weird hybrid in between that i didn't think was even possible in a game.
as for mgs4 so far its just a few early reviews and seriously playstation magaizne calling it amazing doesn't mean much in my book, though i don't care for reviewers at all to be honest.
i've still yet to see anything from mgs4 to make we want to keep my preorder. i want to like the series i just can't no matter how many chances i've given it.
MGS4.. the story is much more in depth.. graphics.. will own any game out on the market right now!
GTAs are all the same.. you play like first 20 or so missions.. then you get tired of it. The online.. although fun at times, isn't addictive. You can hold off on GTA..
I'm tired of GTA4. Theres never any sense of urgency since you can spend hours roaming and doing stuff outside of the story line. After a while you forget what is going on and lose interest.
I need a good story to push me along and MGS series has that in SPADES.

pretty blown right now cuz i was waiting and saving money forever to get mgs4. i got sick of gta by san andreas so i wasn't going to get gta4, but then it got a friggin 10.0 so its like i had to buy since is supposed to be the greatest game on all time now. but after playing it i learned that it is the absolute most over rated game of all time instead. im so pissed that i didn't wait for mgs4. if you played the other gtas there is really no reason to waste $60 on this gta, i would rather wait till its a greatest hit or something. i'll prolly still buy mgs4 immediately but still blown cuz i could've waited a bit longer and saved some money.

Your a big MGS fan and you'll rent MGS4?!? how ironic.
if you waited this long to get GTA4,, im begging you, wait another couple weeks and get the MGS4 bundle.
GTA4 was a great game and all,, probably worth a 9.5/10,, but for some reason it hasnt had me coming back for more all the time to play like how previous games did. Since its been out, ive prob gone 14 or so random days without playing it
EDIT: I read your first post. This thread wasnt even worth replying to,, buddy, get both
glad to see im not the only one who thinks gta 4 is overated, good game but gets very boring, im not even hafl way through it yet and im bored to death. get mgs 4 first gta can wait, if you have played all the other gta's then it's basically all the same.
And does anyone feel like this gta have the most chase and kill missions?? becuase i feel like all ive been doing is chasing and killing up to now, just unlocked the second part of the city btw.

LMAO so true
Sadly, i've owned a PSOne and PS2 and never got around to playing any of the MGS series. And when playing through a series I usually like to start from game one just so I know the whole back story and all that, since my ps3 doesnt support BC I cant go back and play any of those games unless I want to go out and buy a PSOne or 2 which I wont be doing.
Anyway to answer the main question, obviously I would say to get GTA. I just beat the main story a few days ago and it deffinetly exceeded my expectations..and my expectations for the game were very high! Im only like 60% or so through the game, so there is still plenty left to do after you've completed the main story. Hope this helps!
