First, congratulations on you PS3. I would say get the 60GB because of its BC. You can definitly use the EE chip to play some awesome PS2 games like God of War 1 and 2. Second, if you geta PS3, make sure you get Resistance. if you are into arcade racing, I would say pick up Motostorm, I absolutely love this game, and playing it on line never ever gets old. also if you're into shooters and have not picked up Rainbow six on your 360, then get it for the PS3 because it has more maps than the 360 version. Also Ninja Gaiden is pretty good I heard, but I personally don't own it and never played it. good luck.
Resistance if you are a run and gun shooter fan, Rainbow Six: Vegas if you are a tactical shooter fan, Ninja Gaiden Sigma if you are a hack and slash fan.

Because paying 100 bucks for 20 more gig and motorstorm isn't worth it plus the sony 60gig has a higher chance of being backwards compatable than the 80 gig...

I strongly believe the 60 GB. The backward Compatability is nearly 100% for PS2 games. There's a lot of cheap fun PS2 games out there. (You may thank yourself later)The game to get is Resistance!

I agree, stick with the 60gb version. In my opinion the extra $100.00 just isn't worth 20GB and Motorstorm. Plus $500.00 is a bargin for the Playstaion 3 get them while there hot!
This is what you'll be needing though...
Resistance, Oblivion, Rainbow Six Vegas, Ninja Giden, and another Six Axis controller for you and your friends. LOL and last but not least you'll definetly be needing a job because it's gets expensive!
thank you for all your help...i got my system (60gb) and resistance. i freakin love it! i appreciate all the help. and this system is so much better i think than the 360....cant wait for the new games to finally get released
