Not all of them need installing. The idea is it saves a part of the game on your HDD so when loading something, it doesn't rely entirely on the disk, which makes the entire process faster.

Yes, if you are completely finished with the game and know that you will not want to play it again you can delete with no problem and recover the hard disk space. It just all depends if you want to keep your saved data or not.

yea but next time you play they game they will redownload. No problem really at all except for DMC4. Most games that need downloading will be like oblivion and do it in the background just to improve loading

It can be removed, but it has to be on the hard drive to play the game as far as I can tell. Works the same as the original Xbox, does a quick install at the start then caches more as you go along. Have to understand that the BD-ROM in the PS3 is a lot slower than most optical drives available atm, so caching information is just about necessary since streaming data off the Blu-Ray disk would result in major bottlenecks for a lot of games. It's basically unnoticeable and most of them don't put enough information on the disk to make a serious impact.

Most of the games don't but there are a few that take advantage of Blu-Ray and PS3's large cache to store certain system data on the PS3 hard drive so that the loading times can be faster - and in the case of Devil May Cry 4 - the graphics are improved by the contantly working and large cache data stored at the beginning of the game.

Hope this helps NSR34GTR ;)
