I got mine at midnight. I experienced about an hour's worth of connection issues with the wireless controller/dongle. The instructions are garbage. Forums all over the place were full of kids who were pissed for not being able to play right away.
Anyway, it finally worked for me, but then I had another problem. The timing is horrible on an HDTV. It's way off of GH1/2, and most of the time doesn't even appear to match up with the audio. They claim it's a problem inherent in HDTVs, so there's a lag calibration option in-game, but I got tired of messing with it. I plugged my PS3 into an SDTV, and it has worked pretty well since then.
Assuming my connection issues are a thing of the past, and that I will be able to tweak the calibration into the sweet spot for my HDTV, I think this game could probably be the best in the series. I like the visuals; I like the variety, challenge, and quality of the tracks; I really like the boss battles (even though Slash is freaking hard!); I also like the increased customizability for characters, guitars, etc.
I played for two hours last night, and about three hours straight this morning, and thoughthis post fallsshort of a ringing endorsement for the aforementioned reasons, I believeGH3 will probably be my favorite of the series once I spend some more time with it.
There's my two cents.
How hard is it to figure out that you press the button on the dongle and then the PS button?
Also, it is a problem due to HDTVs. Anyone with HD knows that you can go from the same channel on SD to HD and they'll be slightly off timing wise. The calibration tool is ridiculously quick and easy. A few notes pass by the screen and strum when they pass.
Anyway, I've only gotten to play a few songs today (too much school work) to see what all the complaints were about and I don't see how any of them are valid since I've had no problems. A great setlist and the gameplay is still there. I'm going to have a great time playing GH3, I'm sure of it.
[QUOTE="Imallvol7"]first time i havent got the game on day one of release. I think the game has gotten stale and rock band is about 100x more enticing.expanded

Okay, dude, everyone who can read knows what the instructions day to do (i.e. press the button on the dongle and the PS button). Guess what? It didn't work for a whole lot of people.
The calibration tool is "easy" but it didn't completely fix my problem after I went through it three times, so I switched to an SD and haven't gone back since.
Just because you were one of the lucky ones who experienced no problems doesn't mean they don't exist. If someone told me their X360 never broke down, so there is no validity to complaints of that nature, I'm sure we'd all have a jolly good laugh.

I changed my calibration to around 19 ms, and things have ran fine for me.... but that Devil is a pain in my arse.... this one is def. the hardest outta all of them.
