The developers have said they are trying to support this. The controllers have the same buttons, with the exception of the optional buttons on the Rockband controller I think. It has the same frets at a lower point of the guitar for like extra points or something. Regardless, it should work. I plan on getting both of the package deals, which will net me with 2 guitars, drums, and the (never going to use) mic. So I will have a complete package for both games.
The extra buttons are so you can have a more real-feel when you play solo's.
But yeah, they're trying to get 3rd party controller-support for both games, I plan on collecting the best ones from both GH and Rockband, you know have some Gibson's and some Fender's, like a real rockstar.

I wouldn't take that as being 100% confirmed.. that question has been asked on the Rock band forums numerious times and all Hmx have said is they will try.. nothing has been confirmed yet and i doubt a mag would no more than HMX themselves.
