So which game do you think looks more promising, we pretty much already know what to expect and what we will getout of GHIII, but the whole drum/vocal thing in rock band looks pretty cool. Im personally leaning towards rock band.

At first I was more excited for Rock Band, but as GHIII's setlist grew, I started leaning more towards it. I'm definitely getting both on day one though.

Rock Band, much more, because you can drum, and make a band sounds fun

GH becasue I'm not into singing lol...Drums looks nice but I'm sure they're goign to make a game just to drum...

If Rock Band works...They will be doing a Drum game for sure!

I think, overall, that Rock Band is going to be a more fun experience. I think it's catering not only towards heavy guitar lovers, but also music lovers in general. It seems like a fun game where everybody can get into and have a good time. I think, over time, that GH: III is going to become more of a game where just the best players come to play...it will be the "guitar game" for those who are advanced in playing and Rock Band will have a more widely accepted audience. Personally though, if Rock Band ends up having as much downloadable online content as they're talking about, with dozens of downloadable songs from all kinds of music genres, I don't know how Guitar Hero can survive another game after this third one. Maybe they can, but it just seems to me that Rock Band will become what Guitar Hero once was +++.

Rock Band's entire albums for download sounds pretty crazy, but I wonder how much it will all cost in the long run.

I'd go with GH3. I'm not really a fan of music games (besides DDR; the perfect party game). However, Guitar Hero 3 looks like it's less of a rip-off than Rock Band because you only need one or two controllers to fully enjoy Guitar Hero 3. You need four to get the full experience out of Rock Band, which costs $200.

You do realize that you can play Rock Band as just a guitarist as you would GH3 as well, right?

Yeah, I know, but didn't they design it so that it's really the best when you have all four controllers?

No they've said the single player experience will match that of the group experience.

Oh really? Okay. I'm still going with Guitar Hero 3, though, because I like that type of music better. Rock Band's will probably a bit more mellow compared to Guitar Hero's.

Rock Band's songlist isn't too great, but I'm still getting it. Rock Band might just be the ultimate party game. :D

Yeah the setlist is no doubt way better in gh3, but at the same time there is suposed to be a whole whack of downloadable content for rock band, and since it is an mtv published game, im sure their will be no shortage of good music. The initial sticker shock of rock band will also turn alot ppl off, but apparently playing in a four player band on the game is one of the funnest things in gaming according to some of the previews.

That's another good point. You can still get the 4 player experience even if you only buy and want to play one instrument by joining a band online.

Rock Band = 40 songs on the disk

GHIII = 70 songs on the disk

30 more downloadable songs for Rock Bandat $1 a pop (conservative estimate) is $30 more for the same amount of content. Just a thought.

i want gh3 a lot more. rock band is a novel idea, but it doesnt have a single song a want to play. that takes all the fun out of the game. gh3 on the other hand, has slayer, metallica, and in flames. and if they make the previous songlists downloadable(i dont see why they wouldnt, they did for gt2 for 360), then there will also be lamb of god(my favorite band) and all that remains. the songs make this type of game, and gh3 has better songs.

I'd go with Rock band just because you can create a band online. I already have guitar hero 2 and it wasn't as fun as I originally thought it would be. And those guys that are getting both, man you got too much disposable income.

I'm getting both. If I had to choose only one, it'd be Rock Band. It lookslike it hasway more replayability. Tired of guitar? Play drums. Tired of Drums? Sing a little. It will be more fun with friends too.

As much as GH3 looks pretty good and has lots of content,Rock Band just looks awesome. I will def get the game with drums,Stratocaster, mic (no bass cuz Im gettin the Widowmaker Rock Commandows wireless bass controller) and just rock out on the drums and guitar non-stop. Gunna be kick-ass and have soooo much content with downloadable albums, songs and many venus and online play. *drool*

I am not into most of the music on either one...but I just love the whole thought of drumming from Rock Band, so that would be my choice.
