Hello all. I have a general inquiry for you. I have recently purchased an 32" LCD HDTV for my room mainly for the PS3. Panasonic TC-32LX700 to be exact and I must say it's amazing. Right now I'm running component cables on it with 720p. Now, the TV apparently supports 1080i and 1080p at the native resolution, 1366x768, without downscaling, but to truly notice the difference between 720p and 1080p on a smaller screen such as this 32", you must be sitting at least 3-4 feet away from the TV. I generally sit 5-6 feet away and the picture quality is stunning as it is. So, for all the HD PS3 players with a similar situation, or even an opinion for that matter, should I jump the fence and go ahead and get me an HDMI hookup? Or, should I just chill with my components? Most of the games out as of now support 720 only anyways, with the exception of Lair and some future titles [MGS4, Killzone 2(maybe?)]
Its not like hdmi cables are expensive. Go on Amazon or newegg and you can find one for like $5. I got mine off Amazon for a dollar (+ 5 shipping of course) and it works awesome.
Well I'm a guy that started with component and yes, go HDMI. Much more of a crisp picture and the sound quality is much better than analog. But the thing is, for HDMI cables, you have to look around. I bought mine at Walmart for about 30 (live in Canada). Made by iCon, says "for PS3" right on the package. But it works just fine.
But there's an online store with decent prices (that aren't the scam job of $179 or something like that)
There's a complete price list for HDMI cables for their site. Don't goto Best Buy or any store like that to pony up $100 more for something you can get a quarter of the price anywhere else.
