Wow david Jaffe just viewed this game and said it looks like a painting coming to life. that sounds awesome, i was wondering if you guys think i should play 1 and 2 before this comes out?

i say you should play the first 2 just because of how much the story improves these games. atleast play 2 because 3 will make no sense to you at all.

Definately play both ... and not just one or the other like people say. You definately need to experience both of them, both are wonderful games with a good story and awesome gameplay. Don't just play 2, play both!

I say play all 3. Chains and 1&2 you then get the whole story and its well worth it. Great Games im just finishing up GOW2 again.

If you havn't played 1 and 2 do it now there awsome and you will have forever till GOW 3 comes out so stop reading this and play it!

i did play chains on psp. rented it and was able to beat it within the week. awesome game but super short. how are the ps2 counterparts in terms of length?

I beated 1 and was halfway in 2, now I don't have a PS2 and my 40GB PS3 can't play PS2 games, so I'm kind of in the same position you're in. I don't think you would need to play the previous games prior to God of War 3, although it would help, but I'm sure that they'll recap on what happened at the end of GoW2.

Wow. you seriously need to play part 1 and 2. Like yesterday.

You definitely have to play every GoW game that's out there. Not only on normal mode but you should also play the titan and god modes in the game. You are missing on one hell of a franchise.

play both. the story in the first is way better.  but the boss battles in the 2nd are epic.  highly recommend them.  it would be a shame if you only played the 3rd.

Jaffe is funny he's a cool dude, but obviously he was trying to hype up the Xbots so that he could say how much GoW III will kick @$$ because GeoW2 is a good game, but not GOTY contender at all. The story was weak and the graphics aren't THAT amazing, they're really good definately some of the best this gen but they're not better than any PS3 game. As for GoW III can't wait everyone is saying the graphics are amazing so I think it's true.
