I'm curious to this since this probably is the first game i've ever played that actually is too violent for me. Usually i don't even care about violence in games, GTA4 for example just makes me laugh when people fly all over the place, but snuff-like gore in detailed slow-motion seems to be the main dish in GOW3 and that's simply not entertaining to me. The fights themselves are fantastic, but the close-ups are just plain unnecessary.

What do you folks think? Please don't vote "No way!" or post comments saying how much you love violence just to impress. Be honest.

It won't stop me from playing it eventually, but I would have to admit that I find it somewhat unnecessary in a game that's traditionally been about cartoonish over the top violence.

I cant wait to get it after playing the demo. Nothing like ripping out a cyclopses eye or ripping off the Sun gods head and turning it into a torch!

Can I handle it? Of course.

God of War has always been violent. There was always graphic deaths, decapitations, limbs being ripped off, and people being cut in half. Sure, it's more pronounced now due to the extra power of the console allowing for such detail and close-ups, but the violence has always been there. Not to mention the nudity and sex games.

That all being said, it seems silly to me to think or say that GoWIII only now goes too far.

Look. I'm not someone who needs or cares about violence in my games. I don't need it to be there for a game to be good. However, players of GoW games understand what it is: a violent series with a violent story in a violent setting with violent characters, that also features nudity and sexual situations. That's what GoW is.

GoWIII does take it to new heights to be sure, but it's only doing what its always done.

That's why it's rated 18+ I like violence in GOW games, but when I saw the scene where you have to cut a head using your bare hands I was like :O and thought it was a bit too much.

I honestly do find it enjoyable. For the type of game GOW is- there's no such thing as "over the top" or "going too far". Just my thoughts anyway. They could have implemented an option to play without the close-ups for the more squeamish and any potential censorship outrages.

I think its too violent, but not as violent as Super Mario Bros oh god, stomping on turtles and using their shells as death shells is not cool man. And what is up with that fruity pic of yours

Violence is violence. I've been desensitized since I was 5 so I'm not bothered by it.

I don't like Kratos and I don't like him appealing to the blood-lusting gamers. No buy.

It's brutality is great, but I've never been a big fan of God of War. I'll wait for a price drop. Not worth anything over $30.

i havent played the demo, but i cant imagine being turned away by the levels of violence. the ultra violent finishers were always what made the GoW combat rewarding (it certainly wasnt the deep mechanics :P ).

Honestly? I expect it. It's all with the realm of console limits. At least, what I believe anyways.

If GOW started on PS3, I think it would've started like this anyways.

If anything stood out with the demo for me was the lighting. It was absolutely great. I think it projected the atmosphere much better than before.

I love it and it's entertaining. The thing is for this, it's just a game. It is hardly realistic in the fact that you are fighting mythological creatures and Greek gods. Movies like Saw are too much for me. They constantly make a new one every year with even more sadistic traps than the previous ones. It gets to be way too much and snuff-like.

I just I`ll luve...probably will get it... but I was in between that and NO way.... I preorder the game, and no just the regular one, but the ultimate edition. I will get it no matter what... after all the games ahve being AMAZING, proof by this that owning the ps2 version I got the collector for GoW and GoW2... and the hanging that they left on GoW2... well... now I do admit that the gore is huge... I played the demo when I preorder, so like 1 month ago... but that way to rip the head out.... ... I like horror games, but sometimes too much graphic gore is too much, no that it stop me from playing and loving the game.. but I dunno I guess I do not see the need. I guess that that for some reason sells games to this generation, so I`ll go with it :P Now at days, even the most regular games wants to try to put soe gore in it to be "better" for this gen... a example is PoP that tried that with warrior within... thx haven it went back :) (btw: nice topic TC)

The brutal violence on the god of war 3 demo doesn't bother me as much as the "No Russian" mission did on MW2 lol

This thread doesn't surprise me because at first I was like "too violent??? it hasn't changed it just looks better" but then I saw you haven't played 1 or 2. This game is all about over the top violence man. I personally love it but I was desensitised by traces of death. It really isn't that over the top man. Ever hear about man hunt? That is some brutal **** too bad the second one sucked. So yeah it is a day one purchase for me. I can't wait to hopefully dismember that **** zeus. :)

Of course I can handle it. The more brutality, gore and violence there is, the better it will be!

No way!! Extreme violence in games now will always be a big plus point. In GOW3's case, it will definitely be the highlight of the whole game. Gore FTW!

i watched the exclusive stuff that GameTrailers came out with a few days ago, it was more epic than i could have ever imagined, and get this - they will be using the IN-GAME ENGINE FOR ALL CUTSCENES, and to be honest the in-game stuff looks WAY better than the CGI cutscenes of God of War 2.

as for the brutality, in that same video i saw Kratos ripping off one of Cronos' fingernails, it was really brutal, but i think i can handle it. I'll probably have to make sure my sister never sees me playing.

I really don't see what all the fuss is about, Mortal Kombat has had this kind of brutality for years, probably worse in fact.
