im serious, he did heavenly sword and the latest ratchet too.the only other games to TIE this score are nba games which recieved 8.5 also. well i guess the recent professor layton for ds got a 9, but honestly does anyone buy that crap?

this game deserves a 9.2 at least

it has great sound,voice,graphics,etc. the only thing that brought it down was gameplay lenght. thats all

It's reviewed by Aeron? No wonder it got the lowest score of the bunch. Why don't they complain all the games that's on psp or ds as a version of Lite? Surely there are always sacrifices to be made when putting onto a smaller media. And why does gamespot keep giving this Aeron guy the best PS brand games to review? Is gamespot intentionally trying to piss off ps brand owners?

"Same as last year" - oh really?Coz i've never played any other god of war on PSP,and I don't own a PS2 :| It's short - that's true,but I'm going to finish this game many times coz even only a fight is god damn fun!

8.5 is a fantastic score but the problem I have with the review is he's too harsh on the game.....

I think it's funny how GS review kept the nudity in their video review---I think that was a mistake on their part considering that every other M rated videos usually require an age verification. :)

But I agree, the score should of been at least a 9.0 considering how much he seemed to love the game minus the minor details. I am loving this game. :)

then why they allow him to review these games. if he is no taste for this kind of games, dont let him do the job. if they want just a critizer they can hire anyone on streets and give all games 5-6 to just find out their bad points.

8.5 is bad for this game. maybe its ultimate score for many other games but for GoW: CoO its unfair. it has no rival in its genre! but no, they include normal consoles to race with a handheld system. its amateur job

I think gamespot is one of the more honest game reviewers. Clearly they do not have any intention to sell the games they review. Can't trust a critic if they aren't critical. And the word of the gamer's is one of the worse ways to gauge the success of a game, because gamers are extremely biased, look at fan-boyism. I'm not sure about the honest part, but will leave that discussion for another time. My problem with GS reviews lately is that they seem to be never satisfied. If a game stays true to a successful game mechanic then GS say something like "it's much of the same previous game" and give it a low score. If the game does indeed introduce something new then the game has an "identity crisis" and also receives a low score. Other times it's "too easy" or "too hard" but it just seems that they nitpick at anything they can find to lower the scores. Maybe in their mind that gives them more credibility or whatever, but to me thay just lost their objectivity.

Seriously, since no ps brand gamers take what Aeron says seriously anyway, why do they keep giving him the best PS games for review? Why don't they just fire them?

@juster25t - then let politicians make reviews for games, they will be critical enough for you, like giving 3-4 for games. these reviews are not meant to be critical, they are for giving an idea about the game.

Word of advice :

If you have'nt played Layton , I'd advice you to shut up , play it and then give us a solid opinion on the game before calling it "crap" .

As for God of War COO , it's got tons of fantastic reviews . It's weird GS gave it an 8.5 though . That's an awesome score still .

You are the only guy who's not grown up here. Did the length of ninja gaiden prevented it to receive 9? Did the length of Resident Evil prevented it from reiving 9?

We see quality when we see it. You see quality with a review. That's the different between we grown up and you GS worshiper.

There's no such thing as too short. The devs could have easily added seven or eight hours more if they included backtracking, meaningless fetch quests, grinding for items/levels, or pages of boring text.

God of War is pure gameplay, and Five or six hours of that is better than a hundred hours of most anything else.
