God of War - overrated

If not because of it's story, God of War is not a good game. Gameplay is average. Lots of games has similar gameplay.

The only thing that made me play GoW1 and 2 is the story. If they don't change the gameplay a bit in GoW3, I'll pass. :)

I think its a good game. (1 and 2 that is)

I do agree its over rated though. I like DMC 1&3/NG 1/2 better. ( in the super dooper kill fricking evertying action game)

GOW is a classic. no argument. i hope this series keeps going. theres so much you can do with the concepts of greek mythology and immortality. i agree the combat system should be retooled a bit. but not totally aborted from. PS3 graphics, epic score and voice acting, teaming with the titans to takedown mount olympus! The lighting effects were brilliant on the PS2. Cant wait to see how this turns out. pray they dont rush it.

Agreed, but even the story doesnt really do it for me. Gameplay is definitely lack luster at best. I really dont know if its the graphics that make it popular or what. At least under the shallow character and horrible story you can find amazing gameplay with Ninja Gaiden.

i dunno i think it's one of my favorite series ever. I played Heavenly Sword the other day and made me wish it was more like god of war in terms of tightness of the controlsswamplord666

While I much prefer GoW over HS I have to lol @ tightness of controls. GoW controls are very loose/unresponsive by action game standards.

yeah that one thing kinda concerns me because god of war1 was so far the best but their is no way gow3 will be lacking and on ps3 it will be mind blowing.. i have an amazing feeling about this one it will prove once again only one game series deserves the acronym GoW and the title does not have gears.. as far as im concerned only game that has gears in its title is mgs4 woot!!

I never really got into GoW 1 & 2 because I didn't even know there was a good story behind it.

I thought it was just mindless hacking and slashing..

God of War 3 is going to be amazing. I never really got into it that much I played some of God of War 1 cuz my boy had it and it was good. Played some of GoD of War 2 cuz my other boy had it and it was good. So God of War 3 for ps3 is gonna be the awesome.

after all is said & done... GOD OF WAR 3 will go down as theeee GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME!!!

GOW2 was hands down my favorite single player game for the ps2. I don't expect GOW3 to be any less amazing on the ps3.

I have the feeling that I will be playing GOW3 for years to come once it releases.

God of War 3 is going to be insane.

Its going to make Gears 2 blood fact into a joke.

Also the game is going to be long because it has 120 pages of dialouge.

God of War was all about pure action. Going from one scenario to the next, kickin a** and taking names. And like Ronniepage said, GOW series did it the best, imo.

But I'd also have to agree with skp_16. Personally, I'd like to see some new gameplay mechanics. I want to some something new added, not necessarily change anything that's been the GOW formula.

The environments are amazing in god of war I and II. i just love the brutality. yea the game involves button mashing, but come on the end result of ur button mashing makes u feel totally bad a$$. The epic kills are just amazing. The puzzle designs piss u off, but when u get into them, u have to compliment the genius of the game developers. God of War III, is most likely a first day purchase for me.

Add in the rumble, ps3 graphics, and sissaxis controls, u cant top that.

God of War belongs to action-adventure and most games in that are somehow not similar to each other games except for GoW, Onimusha, HS, and Ninja Gaiden.
