So I just got the game the other night and I gotta say that the beginning is absolutely amazing. Needless to say, it really grabs you by the balls from the get-go. The graphics are great, but so far the gameplay does not seem to have improved much over the past two titles. That doesn't bother me all that much because the gameplay still rocks. The one complaint I really have about the game is more aesthetic than anything, and it has to do with the appearance of the god Hades. To me, he looks oddly out of place compared to the rest of the gods, and kind of looks like he belongs in some kind of sick S&M smut film instead of ruling over the underworld. So, besides Hades completely clashing with the rest of the vibe of the new God of War game, I am enjoying it immensely. I know it's a minor gripe, but when a game is this good it's the little faults that stick out the most.

Does anyone else agree, or am I completely on my own on this one?

More titan fights, longer gameplay. That's what I think. Great game besides that stuff.

Graphics is over-hyped, while the scale is far more impressive. And its too short, and the enemies became a bit repetitive (ie the same ones kept appearing). But the pacing from puzzle, platforming and fighting is among the best, but maybe more fighting was needed.

it was not as good as the first two, except for Hades and *** Spoiler*** the fight with chronos ****** the game wasn't great. it wasn't as diverse as the second one. I played it more to finish it then enjoying myself. And I played gow 2 3 days before the third one come out

I can agree with this. I probably did like the first two better, but how do you really improve upon those two? How can you even really improve upon the first one? What's great about the third, to me, is all the cool camera angles that still have the ability to make you say "Holy sh$@!" even if what you are seeing is not all that new to the series. It's the refined graphics. better platforming controls, and awesome camera angles that are making this game kickass to me. From what I have been hearing though, the game is quite short. I think this will no doubt hold it back from receiving Game of the Year for a lot of people.

I too agree that Hades could have been much cooler looking. I also think his boss battle could have been way more epic with a better soundtrack. I didn't like the tune that played when you fight him.

i guess they couldnt really do anything about the look of hades, since they already established his look in GOW2. i didnt mind the music. i thought it was a pretty good fight overall

Anyone else kinda bummed that they didn't use the music that played in the demo version when those shield soldiers come down and protect helios? They used a variant of it in the hercules battle, though.

i think the gameplay is improved over GOW2...i prefer the new L1+O grab, the ability to use enemies as a battering ram, and the additional weapons that are actually useful and fun to use.

Weapons were meh. Blades of exile basically don't get used once you get Hades claw. Then the massive boxing gloves are way to pwerful compared to the claws. So the whip doesn't really improve upon the hercules weapon either, However, the weapons become more useful on the harder difficulties when enemies are too good to use the boxing gloves all the time and the claws (the longest range weapon) become much more useful.

I'm not trying to be a troll or anything, i just want to know other ppls opinions, but,all i ever see online in forums and stuff is "GOW3=GOTY!!!", and i realy dont understand the thinking behind this. all that was said in the last GOTY awards was how mw2 didnt deserve the award because it did not innovate in any way and was just the first game with prettier graphics. isnt gow3 just the original with better graphics? the actual gameplay is almost identical. and dont call me a mw2 fanboy or anything, i wanted batman to win. i just think theres a total double standard.

I'm in the GOW3 is averagely good camp. A solid 9, maybe even a 8.5 Graphics are good, just not as good as its made out here, too short, weapons need more variation, and personally, i wanted more boss fights.

The game is really amazing but I have to agree with you about Hades. Also, the ending wasn't very good compared to the beginning. I like the idea but I don't like the final battle. However, this is my best PS3 game ever. It definitely deserves a 10/10.

Really? I think the graphics are badass, and the fight with Poseidon looks great to me. Overall, I don't think the game looks as good as Uncharted 2, but not much does.

Hades looks out of place? He's the ****ing god of the underworld. What do you expect?

Anyway, the game was epic. Some of the boss fights were great, while others were a bit of a letdown. The game looks amazing. Overall, awesome game. But GOW 2 still remains my favorite in the trilogy.

WHAT! I know some about the greek and roman depictions of hades/pluto but this depiction was bad as$ in my opinion (altough it is my own). Hades looked cool is all I can say, maybe adapted to our time BUT in the best way possible.(spikes en all)

More fighting was needed, but the enemies were repetitive. :? How does that make any sense?

If anything, we saw fewer minotaurs, gorgons, cyclops, centaurs, sirens, wraiths, and satyrs than in previous games. However, each individual enemy was more of a challenge in GOW 3. They increased enemy quality, but decreased enemy quantity (besides the basic grunt enemies) ... I would've preferred to see the major enemies in at least the same quantities as previous games.

It would have been cooler if they gave Hades a humanoid look, like the rest of the gods. But with red (sith-like) eyes.

those who are saying the graphics aren't that good were probably not playing it in high definition. the graphics are amazing. the gameplay is fun, but not as diverse as the 2nd installment. i wish it was more diverse & longer. btw, i'm just one trophy away from getting the platinum trophy. i have to beat the game in titan & i'm in the labyrinth now. wish me luck!

i played it at 720P...it doesnt support 1080P...I have a samsung 46" 120hz HDTV

graphics is not asgood like as kz2 or uncharted 2...you can tell it has low poly modeling in many scenes. Scenes and emenies are very repetitive too.

Voice acting is hiliarious, seriously it's like a hollywood B movie story.Fighting is good, but platforming is not as smooth as ac2 or uncharted 2. In fact, i found out demo's graphics is better...It's a waste of $60. No wonder its used price is cheaper than ff13 now. I expect to get superb quality (either on replay value or amazing single player) when i paid full price for a game. Puzzle is also wasting time cuz it has nothing to do with story or gameplay, and it looks like they want players to spend times on puzzle so they wouldnt find actual gameplay is so short. Basically it's a no brainer button smash game.

I''m talking about variety and variety of attacks they have. The basic soldiers were waay to easy and the big enemies were too dumb and slow. Quality of enemies should have been much better because Kratos is too much of a beast. ANd i just wanted to do more epic fights.

overall i liked it. i mean im still playing it. (4th time thru) i agree about the hades fight. i mean hes the king of the underworld! and youre fighting him on his turf. there shoulda been LEGIONS of undead souls and demons trying to take you down. maybe even make you kill your wife and daughter over n over again.

i also thought that it was weird that you fight the 2 toughest gods next to zeus (there his brothers) first. i figured youd go after an easy one 1st like hermes.

Well you're a super dude, aren't ya? Seeing as how the God of War series has basically annihilated every Greek myth ever told in the span of three videogames, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that Hades looks like a fat accupuncture patient with a gimp mask. Maybe, deep down, I was just hoping that he wouldn't. But he did, and I killed him and swam through his stomache (sweet) and now I'm over him. :P Still liking the game, but feel like I am almost done. Damn, it was a short ride...GOTY this most definitely is not.

Overall, I was slightly disappointed with it. Not to say it was bad, it just seems like they made it because they had to, not because they wanted too.

I had never played previous God of War games, but to me this was a fantastic game all round. The visuals and gameplay were so brilliant, at times I was mesmerized by the scale of things.

I loved the Hades boss fight, one of my favourites, so I have no complaints there :)
